Kindergarten Special Edition

Dear 2025-26 Kindergarten Families!

If you are a new family, I'd like to be the first to offer an official welcome to the Hawks View community. If you are a returning family with a newly enrolled younger sibling, we are very happy to continue partnering with you to give your child the best educational experiences we can.

This special kindergarten newsletter is to provide our new and returning families with the information you need to successfully start the school year with your soon-to-be Kindergarten student. You are always welcome to reach out by calling the Hawks View office at 503-825-5400.

Please feel free to share this newsletter with any families with a Kindergarten age child who may not have heard about Kindergarten registration. Thank you!

Registration for our incoming Kindergarten class is available online using the link below. Incoming Kindergarten students must turn 5 on or before September 1, 2024. Registering early helps the school and district start planning for the fall.

Online Kindergarten Registration

During online registration, new families will create a Sherwood ParentVUE account. Parents of current and former Sherwood students will log in with their existing ParentVUE account. Please call the Hawks View front office at 503-825-5400 if you have any questions.

Paper Registration

Families are also welcome to register using paper registration. Paper registration packets can be picked up from the Hawks View front office.

Dual Language Immersion Program

If you’re enrolling your student or looking to move to Sherwood, you may locate the schools for a home address using our online Boundary Map. Enter your address in the upper left corner to search. Contact Carrie Mower at cmower@sherwood.k12.or.us or 503-825-5012 with boundary questions.

The school day begins at 7:55 a.m. with doors opening at 7:45 for general arrival. Students eating breakfast at school may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. The school day ends at 2:15 p.m., with the exception of Wednesday when school dismisses at 1:15. If your home address is more than one mile radius from our school, you may be eligible for transportation. To view transportation maps, routes, and pick-up/drop-off times please visit the transportation web page linked here.

This summer, incoming Kindergarten families will have a couple of opportunities to meet staff and other families during our Kinder Playdates. Kinder Playdates are 1-hour play times on the Hawks View playground and are simply a time for kids, parents & staff to get to know each other before the school year starts.

• July 23rd - 4:00-5:00pm

• August 7th - 10:00-11:00am

More information will be shared with all registered kindergarten families via email over the summer.

Every volunteer in Sherwood School District must have a criminal background check completed each school year. It can take 7-10 business days to complete the process, so if you would like to volunteer next school year, please plan ahead!

You only need to submit your information one time per school year. Once it has cleared, your name will be added to the master list for all locations.
