January 9, 2026
Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a restful break and is off to a great start in 2026. As we settle back into our routine, we have many events taking place throughout the month of January. Our first semester will conclude in just 15 days, on January 23, making this a great time to check in on your child’s academic progress using Schoology and HAC.
January is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month, with plenty of opportunities for students and families to get involved, including the MLK Day of Service, Spirit Week, Geography Bee, FARE meeting, Winter Semi-Formal, and a pep rally. Be sure to read through this newsletter for all the details. We look forward to a great month ahead.
GO BIRDS!

F.A.R.E. Meeting 1/13/2026
Rose Tree Media School District is committed to improving our society today, and for future generations, through outstanding education, awareness, and appreciation of all people. We work to carry out this mission by exhibiting respect for diversity among our student body, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual identity, disability, socioeconomic class, and religion. The mission of F.A.R.E. is to promote and encourage diversity awareness, provide family support, engage in networking, and create deeper unity and understanding within the Rose Tree Media School District and the surrounding community.
Click on the FARE Information document to learn about upcoming opportunities to get involved and meeting information. Next meeting is Tuesday, 1/13 at 6:00 PM.
Please also refer to the school calendar for meeting dates and any rescheduling.
Poetry Slam
FARE - Family Alliance for Respect and Equity - is sponsoring the 4th annual Poetry Slam. The event will be held in the Library at Penncrest High School on February 4th at 7:00 PM. This is an opportunity for students to share their own original poem, spoken word, expression, or even read a poem they love that was written by someone else. Students interested in reading a poem should register at: https://forms.gle/sw5bQFWWcuU2d8a5A

Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
To keep classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted, all wireless devices, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be OFF and AWAY during the school day unless a teacher gives a specific academic reason to use them. Students will be reminded each morning to power down their devices.
Please let your child know that you will not be texting or calling during school hours. If a student needs to reach a parent, a staff member can provide permission. In an emergency, the main office is the best way to get in touch. More details are available in the Springton Lake Student Handbook.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, distraction-free learning environment!
