Reading, Math, &Homework ClubOctober 26, 2026

Dear Washburne Families, You play an important role in helping students develop strong habits around reading and homework completion. We encourage families to establish a consistent, distraction-limited time and space each evening for students to read and complete assignments. To further support students and families, Washburne offers three school-based opportunities for reading, math, and homework support.

Math Homework Help:

Starting this week, students can drop in for Math Homework Help in the cafeteria every school day from 7:50–8:20 a.m. Our math teachers will staff the sessions on a rotating basis, alongside special education teachers who support math classes. This is a great opportunity for students to ask questions and get help with their math homework—no appointment needed! These drop-in sessions supplement, rather than replace, individual appointments with a student’s math teacher for test review or targeted reteaching.

Morning Reading Drop In

Our evening schedules are busy, and sometimes it's hard to find time to read every day, even though we know that we should. That's why we started Washburne's morning reading drop in! Starting on Monday, September 14th, students are invited to come to the resource center from 7:50-8:20am on any weekday morning when they're free for silent reading time. There's no commitment required--just come when you are able and start your morning off right with some sustained silent reading. Bonus: ask your ELA teacher if they offer any incentives for attending!

Homework Club:

Homework club is starting up this week! Join us in the RC after school for a place to sit and get work done or to get help from a teacher. It runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:00pm. Students do not need to stay the entire time and anyone is welcome. Core teachers and related studies teachers participate each day so students can ask questions and get support if needed.
