Sixth Class will enjoy their final Fun Day with Ms. Duffy today, taking part in a variety of water-based activities outdoors and enjoying delicious food from Centra along with plenty of treats.

They are now looking forward to their Graduation Ceremony this Wednesday, when parents will be invited to the school hall to celebrate this special milestone. The ceremony will include a special prayer led by Father Martin and a slideshow reflecting on the children's journey from Junior Infants to Sixth Class.

Following the ceremony, the children will make their way from the hall for their final walk through the school, where they will be cheered and applauded by the other classes and teachers lined along the corridors as they mark this special milestone in their school journey.

We thank everyone who has helped organise the graduation, and the Parents' Association, who will provide each graduate with a goodie bag to mark the occasion.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Father Martin for his continued support of our school community, particularly Sixth Class and Second Class. In addition to preparing the children for their Confirmation and First Communion, he has generously given his time throughout the year by visiting the school, inviting classes to the church for prayer and reflection, and supporting both pupils and staff in so many ways.

Sports Competitions and Transport Contributions Sports Competitions and Transport Contributions

The school is proud to offer pupils opportunities to participate in a wide range of sporting competitions and other activities throughout the year.

Due to the rising cost of transport, a flat-rate contribution will be requested from pupils who are selected to participate in certain competitions. This contribution will help offset bus costs but will not cover the full cost of transport, with the school continuing to subsidise a significant portion of these expenses. Parents will not be asked to provide lifts to matches in other schools in the next school year. We will occassionally ask parents, if they are available, to provide lifts to Summerhill GAA club.

Parents will be notified in advance of each competition and only pupils participating in that competition will be asked to contribute.

Please note:

  • Participation in competitions is subject to team selection and availability.

  • The number of trips listed above is an estimate and may vary from year to year depending on fixtures, venues and competition structures.

  • Teams that progress successfully through competitions may have additional matches and trips beyond those initially anticipated. In such cases, an additional €8 transport contribution will be requested from the pupils involved.

  • Parents will receive communication before each competition outlining the contribution required and payment arrangements.

  • The transport contributions outlined above do not cover the full cost of bus hire. The school will continue to subsidise a significant portion of transport costs to ensure pupils can participate in sporting activities and competitions.

🎭 Congratulations to all the boys and girls who participated in Dangan's Got Talent on Friday afternoon! 🎭

Well done to the organisers, participants, and winners of our annual Dangan's Got Talent competition! Following class auditions, we had six acts competing in the Junior Competition and another six acts competing in the Senior Competition. There was an incredible display of talent, creativity, and confidence, all performed in front of a loud but wonderfully supportive audience.

A special congratulations to Sadie and Amelia, who were crowned Junior Winners of Dangan's Got Talent, and a huge well done to Ellie, who took home the Senior Title!

👏 A special shout-out to Lilly, Lauren, and Lochlann, who served as MCs for the event and organised the music for each participant. Their hard work, enthusiasm, and attention to detail helped the entire show run smoothly and made the afternoon a great success!

Well done to everyone involved for making Dangan's Got Talent 2026 such a memorable event!

⭐ You should all be very proud of your achievements. ⭐

Well done to all the pupils who represented the school at the athletics event in Claremont on Tuesday!
Our students took part in a range of events including long jump, ball throw, sprints, and relay races.

A big thank you to Ms. Fitzgerald for her organisation and support on the day. We’re proud to say that some pupils brought home medals — but more importantly, everyone gave their best and had a great time.

School Jerseys

We are currently missing a small number of school jerseys that were used by pupils representing the school at sporting events throughout the year.

We would greatly appreciate it if parents could ask their children to check at home this evening to see if any school jerseys have been accidentally kept. If found, please return them to the school as soon as possible so they are available for future teams.

Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.

Attendance Attendance

Data published by Tusla Education Support Services (TESS) shows that one in five children in primary and post-primary school are missing a month or more of their school year. The 2023/24 report indicates that while non-attendance is decreasing it is still significantly greater than pre-pandemic levels.

Our Statement of Attendance Strategy reflects the school’s strong commitment to encouraging regular attendance as an important part of our ethos and policy. Good attendance helps children to become fully involved in all aspects of school life, and we encourage both parents and pupils to give attendance a high priority. Please find our School Attendance Strategy here on the school website.
