Important Safety Reminder: Kiss & Ride Lane
Proper use of the Kiss and Ride Lane
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Proper use of our Kiss and Ride is imperative for the safety of our students. Please click on the visual below which explains the proper use of our Kiss and Ride Lane.
DO NOT:
- leave your vehicle. Children should exit the vehicle INDEPENDENTLY from the passenger side. Staff are available to assist if necessary;
- drive/park in the Bus Lane .
DO:
- pull all the way forward when dropping off students;
- be patient with students exiting their vehicle and obey the directions of staff;
- ensure children exit the vehicle from the passenger side;
- have your child prepared to exit the vehicle once stopped;
- consider arriving 5 minutes before the bell OR dropping off a few hundred meters from school and have your child walk from there;
- remember that pedestrians have the right of way;
- recognize that parents of our youngest students have a greater need to access the Kiss ‘N Ride;
- always be hyper-aware of student pedestrians;
- have students walk to school whenever possible.
IMPORTANT: Kiss ‘N Ride is meant for only a very brief ‘stop and drop’. If you need to leave your vehicle to assist your child or walk them, please park elsewhere. Blocking lanes, double parking or parking in fire routes is unsafe and not an option.

Safe Arrival - Attendance
Reporting Student Absences
There are 3 ways to report your child's absence, late arrival or early departure:
- Using the Safe Arrival App (download from Google or Apple Store)
- Using the SafeArrival website, https://go.schoolmessenger.ca/#/home .
- Calling the toll-free number 1.844.435.3440 to report an absence using the automated phone system.
The above 3 options are available 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Future absences can be reported at any time.
NOTE: For absences greater than five consecutive days, please call your child’s school directly.
Please report absences in advance using SafeArrival instead of sending notes or calling/emailing the school.

Toys and Personal Items
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe, inclusive, and focused learning environment for all students, we kindly ask that children refrain from bringing toys or personal items from home to school, including during recess times.
Recently, there has been an increase in students bringing "squishy" toys to school. While these items are often marketed as sensory or self-regulation tools, they are currently being used primarily as toys. As a result, they have become a source of distraction and have led to disagreements among students. We have also had reports of squishies being lost, damaged, or broken.
In several instances, squishies have ruptured, exposing the gel-like material inside. As the contents of these toys vary by manufacturer, this creates an unnecessary safety concern when the material comes into contact with students' skin, clothing, or personal belongings. For these reasons, squishies should not be brought to school.
We recognize that some students may benefit from sensory tools to support self-regulation and focus. For students who require these supports, the school has a variety of appropriate sensory resources available, including fidgets and calming tools that do not contain gel-filled materials.
We also remind families that the school cannot be responsible for personal items that are lost, damaged, or misplaced. By keeping toys and personal belongings at home, we can better support positive interactions among students and maintain a safe, productive learning environment.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and continued partnership.
