FROM MRS. DAVID - RMS LIBRARIAN πŸ“šπŸŒž FROM MRS. DAVID - RMS LIBRARIAN πŸ“šπŸŒž

All students now have access to Sora, an online reading platform that offers grade level appropriate books of all kinds, including audio books! From your google 'waffle' scroll down and find the app. Sign in with your google email and then 'add a library' and add the 'Virtual library of Wyoming' to access all the titles.

April is also poetry month! Try reading a book in verse. They are quick reads and are also some of the best middle grade books out there! A few examples are:

Starfish by Lisa Fipps

Odder by Katherine Applegate

Booked by Kwame Alexander

Mid Air by Alicia Williams

Good Different by Meg Eden Kuyatt

WY-TOPP TESTING WY-TOPP TESTING

Wyoming's Wy-Topp testing window is from April 15th until May 9th! All students Grades 3-10 are required to take the test per the Wyoming Department of Education guidelines.

Taking tests, especially a really long test like the Wy-Topp, can be stressful. Mary Sharp Emerson has created a great resource called 14 Tips for Test Taking Success including tips for Test Prep, Strategies for Test Taking, and Four Ways to Cope with Test Taking Anxiety.

Remember to get lots of rest the night before the test, take your time, and do your best!

8TH GRADE RESTAURANT 8TH GRADE RESTAURANT

This will be the third year of our 8th grade restaurant opportunity for our students. Those of you that grew up here probably remember being a part of this project. After about a decade of not having it, our staff was excited to again bring our restaurant back.

For those of you not familiar with this project, our 8th grade students vote on a theme, create a resume, apply online for a job, interview with members of our community, get placed in a job, then plan and prepare a full fledged Restaurant. Our students plan the menu, decor, attire, prices, and more. We love the real life application and experiences our students get from this and the pride they take in their job and the outcome.

Parents, please encourage your child to participate fully in this project. Even though the kids won't receive monetary benefits, they will get out what they put into this!

Important Dates:

  • End of April - Info will go out for reservations. Parents of 8th graders always pick time slots first, then we open reservations to the public.
  • Tuesday, May 13th - Restaurant Night! Enjoy your gourmet dinner!
