Dear Coyote Families,

I hope you have all enjoyed a restful Winter Break with plenty of moments to connect and make memories with your children. The Canyon View Team is looking forward to welcoming our students back to campus tomorrow as we kick-off 2026 with so many wonderful things to look forward to!

While the Canyon View Team has been enjoying Winter Break, the PUSD Maintenance and Operations Department has been hard at work! Students will return to a newly paved blacktop on the main playground! Also, the TK and Kindergarten area has been improved with a new concrete slab, replacing the dirt under the lunch tables. Thank you PUSD for these wonderful improvements to our campus!

Let's Make it a GREAT week!

Warmly,

Erica Edmonston

Garden Volunteers Needed

We're looking for enthusiastic Garden Volunteers to help our students learn and grow! 👩‍🌾🌱
This is a fun, flexible way to get involved. Volunteers will:
  • Present short, hands-on garden lessons (about 20 minutes) to students.
  • No experience necessary! You don't need to be a garden pro or a certified teacher! We provide the materials.
  • The days and times are flexible and will be coordinated individually with you and the teachers.
Important Note on Clearing:
  • All volunteers must be cleared through the school/district system. We'd love to have Level 2 volunteers who are cleared to work independently with groups, but we can happily accommodate Level 1 volunteers as well!

Interested in helping our school garden thrive? Contact Terri at terri.l.lane@gmail.com or call 619-861-6427.

The Snow Globe Family, written by Jane O’Connor, illustrated by S.D. Schindler

Though we seldom experience frozen precipitation here in San Diego, nothing evokes cozy winter vibes like the promise of snow! In this charming tale by author Jane O’Connor (creator of the Fancy Nancy series) and illustrator S.D. Schindler, two old-fashioned families experience a snowstorm, each from their own unique perspective.

Interested in Visiting or Volunteering at Canyon View?

We love our volunteers! To get started, complete the Level 1 Volunteer Application for Canyon View Elementary at bit.ly/CVESVolunteer or click here (includes TB clearance and Megan’s Law check).

Some roles—like coaching, robotics, or working with students unsupervised—require Level 2 clearance. To obtain or renew Level 2 status, complete the Level 1 steps first, then request a Level 2 form from our office and complete fingerprinting at the PUSD District Office.

If you are visiting campus for a short time—such as attending an assembly, performance, class party or meeting—you do not need to register as a volunteer; simply check in at the front office as a visitor. Classroom visitors need to be scheduled in advance with both the office and the classroom teacher.
