Hines Mission and Vision
Mission: At Hines Elementary, it is our unwavering commitment to establish a safe and inclusive learning environment. Our students will feel loved, supported, and find joy in learning. ❤️
Vision: At Hines Elementary, we are committed to cultivating a vibrant and dynamic learning environment that ignites curiosity, fosters creativity, and celebrates student achievements. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for critical thinking that are essential for academic success and positive character growth. Through collaboration with families and the wider community, we strive to empower our students to reach their full potential and become responsible, compassionate, and engaged citizens.
A Note from Mrs. Mathe
We packed a lot of fun into this short four-day week! This past weekend, our Huskies shined at the Destination Imagination competition, with two teams placing 11th and 12th—congratulations to our amazing students for their hard work and creativity!
Our Huskies also made a big impact at the Science Fair, where they taught students from across CISD how to make ice cream. They did a fantastic job leading, teaching, and representing our campus with confidence and enthusiasm.
On Tuesday night, our Husky families came together for Family Service Night, working as a team to package lunches for Kids’ Meals, Inc. and prepare emergency backpacks for our new elementary school in the GOHS feeder opening in August. Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to extend kindness beyond our four walls and serve others in our community.
Today, we celebrated friendship and kindness with classroom Valentine’s Day celebrations. Students shared notes and treats with one another, spreading smiles throughout the day. While these may seem like small acts of kindness, the joy students feel when giving to their friends is truly irreplaceable.
Next week, we will continue celebrating kindness with our official Kindness Week! Students are invited to join in the fun with daily dress-up days if they would like to participate. We are also excited to support our 3rd grade Philanthropy Project, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, where students will learn about giving back while making a meaningful impact. We look forward to another week filled with kindness, compassion, and school spirit!
Congratulations Friends of Education!
Thank you to 2 of our amazing subs, Ms. Anderson and Ms. Pruitt for always being willing to step in and help us out in a pinch!

Bike Racks
Please help us by ensuring your child parks their bike or scooter in the bike racks. This helps keep the sidewalk clear for students and families who need to walk through or access the area.
To support a smooth end-of-day transition, signs will be added at the back biker/walker location to remind students where K–2 and 3–4 should park their bikes.

Student Spotlight
We are excited to introduce a new section in The Hines Herald called Student Spotlight! This feature will celebrate the amazing achievements, acts of kindness, and positive contributions of our Huskies both inside and outside of school. In this section, we will highlight students who have gone above and beyond—whether it’s reaching a personal goal, helping others, or making a difference in the community. We can’t wait to share these inspiring stories and honor the incredible ways our students shine!

Hines Elementary is excited to host our annual Diversity Celebration Night, and we would love for our families to be part of it!
We are inviting families to host a table representing a country, culture, or family tradition that is meaningful to you. This is a wonderful opportunity to share what makes your family unique through displays, artifacts, traditional clothing, music, photos, or small food samples (optional).
Our goal is to celebrate the many cultures and backgrounds that make Hines such a special community. Whether your family has deep roots in another country or simply wants to share a special tradition, we welcome your participation!
If you are interested in hosting a table, please sign up using the QR attached to the flyer or contact Mrs. Taylor-Ross for more information. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
