4 and 5 Year Old Class Visit to Road Safety Town

As part of their "Who We Are" Unit of Inquiry—where students have been exploring how we have different responsibilities in different places—our 4- and 5-year-old classes took an exciting field trip to the Road Safety Town in Sau Mau Ping! During the visit, the children had the valuable opportunity to attend an engaging road safety talk led by a local police officer, who shared essential rules for staying safe on and around the road. Stepping into the roles of responsible pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers in a mini-city setup, our young learners put those lessons directly into action. By navigating simulated streets, reading traffic signs, and obeying signals, they experienced firsthand how our personal responsibilities adapt depending on our environment—giving them a meaningful, real-world connection to their unit of inquiry.

4 and 5 Year Old Classes Supermarket Trip

As part of their "Who We Are" unit on exploring personal and social responsibilities, our 4- and 5-year-old classes took a practical trip to the supermarket! Leading up to the outing, the children took total ownership by planning their own class party celebration—brainstorming ideas and creating thoughtful shopping lists of what they needed. Once at the store, our young shoppers put their understanding of real-world responsibilities into action. They demonstrated fantastic citizenship by carefully navigating the aisles with their trolleys, staying mindful of other shoppers, sticking strictly to their lists, and even comparing prices between similar items to make smart choices. It was an empowering, hands-on experience that brought their classroom learning into the community!

Playgroup and 2 Year Old Classes

Our youngest learners in the Playgroup and 2-Year-Old Classes have officially embarked on an exciting new adventure! Our 2-Year-Old Class students began their journey in mid-August, transitioning smoothly into school life through our gradual entry programme to build up to a full 3-hour session. Meanwhile, our three Playgroup classes hit the ground running as they started their school adventure in September. Across both age groups, these little explorers are showing remarkable resilience and joy as they settle into their brand-new daily routines.

Our vibrant classrooms have become spaces of daily discovery and connection. Through sensory play, storytelling, music, and outdoor movement, the children are developing vital social skills—learning to share, take turns, and form their very first friendships. As part of their unit "Let Me Know," the children have been actively exploring all about their new school, getting to know their classmates, and meeting different staff members. They are also busy identifying colors and shapes while becoming familiar with their daily classroom routines.

It has been truly heartwarming to watch their independence blossom. From learning to tidy away toys and put on their own shoes to following simple group directions, our students are taking big strides every single day. Supported by our dedicated and nurturing teaching team, these foundational weeks have created a safe, welcoming space where a lifelong love for learning can truly take root.

3 Year Old Classes

What an inspiring start to the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for our 3-year-old learners! Launching directly into their first unit, "Who We Are," our students have been inquiring into the central idea that our choices affect our health and well-being.

To explore what it means to lead a healthy life, the children have been diving into dynamic, hands-on learning experiences. Through interactive sorting games, they categorised foods into "everyday" and "sometimes" treats, learning how fuel choices impact their energy and bodies. Physical well-being was put into practice as well, with the children stretching through mindful yoga sessions and building strength during active outdoor play.

Equally important to this unit is nurturing emotional and social health. Our young learners have been discovering how friendship and kindness shape how we feel. Through guided group activities and shared play, they practiced turn-taking, active listening, and cooperation—discovering firsthand how positive relationships make our classroom community feel safe and happy.

Seeing our 3-year-olds embody the IB Learner Profile attributes of being balanced and reflective at such a young age has been truly wonderful. They are already making mindful connections between their actions, their feelings, and their overall well-being!

4 and 5 Year Old Classes

Our 4- and 5-year-old classes have shown incredible maturity throughout their initial "Who We Are" unit, where they inquired into how we have different responsibilities in different places. Over these past two months, our students have transformed from passive observers into proactive, principled community members.

The children began by examining their personal duties at home, reflecting on how taking on small chores—like organizing their rooms—supports their families. Within our school walls, they stepped up as active leaders, eagerly taking on daily classroom jobs, leading lines safely, and offering a caring, helping hand to our younger learners during snack time.

Their inquiry naturally extended into the wider community, highlighted by two hands-on field trips. During their visit to Sau Mau Ping Road Safety Town—which included an insightful talk by a police officer—they practiced being responsible, safety-conscious pedestrians and cyclists. Later, when planning a class party, they put their decision-making directly into practice by drafting shopping lists, comparing prices, and shopping responsibly at the local supermarket.

By actively demonstrating what it means to be caring, communicators, and thinkers, our oldest kindergarteners haven't just learned about responsibility—they have lived it every single day.
