Volunteers must have cleared the PPS Volunteer Background Check. For more information, and to apply, visit pps.net/volunteer

Walk & Roll Committee
September's StoryWalk: A Tiger Tail
Families are invited to enjoy September's StoryWalk - A Tiger Tail: (Or What Happened to Anya on Her First Day of School) written and illustrated by Mike Boldt. It tells the funny story of a young girl dealing with first-day-of-school nerves. StoryWalks will be up for about two weeks and families are invited to read the stories with their children before or after school. Teachers will be invited to bring their students to view the StoryWalk as time allows. The Woodstock StoryWalk Series is funded by the Woodstock PTA.
Woodstock Bike Fair - Volunteers Needed
Join us for the 3rd Annual Woodstock Bike Fair after school on Friday, September 18th from 2:30β5:30 pm at the Traffic Playground (north west side of school). There will be a quick fix-bike repair station, helmet fitting station, bike safety and skills station, a free raffle, and more! We will have free helmets, snacks, and bike decorations while supplies last. This event is supported by Metro and hosted by the Woodstock School PTA Walk & Roll Committee.
Bring a bike if you have one, if not, Cycle Oregon will be bringing loaner bikes and helmets for families to use at the Bike Fair. Sizes from little kids to adults.
We need volunteers for this event! Sign up today!
Bike Bus Info and Save the Date for a Special Guest Bike Bus + π© on 9/25
Bike Buses encourage biking by creating designated routes to school that children and their families can join along the way. For families commuting to Woodstock School, you can join a Bike Bus by parking at the start of the route or anywhere along the way. Please check the updated Bike Bus map, as the routes and start times may have changed for your route. Bike Buses will roll every Friday, rain or shine. Ready to roll with us? Join the Bike Bus WhatsApp Group for the route closest to you: Northside WhatsApp Group and the SE 60th/Carlton WhatsApp Group.
Special Guest Bike Bus + Donuts on Friday, September 25: The guest will join the SE 60th/Carlton Bike Bus on 9/25 and then there will be donuts for both bike buses when we arrive at school.
Get involved with the Mandarin Immersion Program's Annual Gala!
Be a part of a night of fun, fundraising, amazing food, and community connection.
How can you help?
Join the organizing committee. We're looking to have parents from all classes represented. This won't be a huge time commitment as we have a lot of things organized already.
Donate something for the auction. We're taking donations for our live and silent auction, plus gift cards for our Gift Card Gamble and wine for the Wine Wall. Donations are tax deductible.
Would your business like to sponsor the event? Email Tonya (see below) for more details.
Save the date! Friday, November 6th, at Excellent Cuisine - 8733 SE Division St.
Contact Tonya Moyle, tonyalangford@gmail.com, if you'd like to participate.

WOODSTOCK 3-5th Grade Co-Ed ULTIMATE FRISBEE TEAM
We are still looking for a few more players to join the Elementary Youth Frisbee League.
Woodstock has two teams: Blaze (3-4th graders) and Wildfire (4-5th graders). Teams are co-ed.
This is DIFFERENT than the Afterschool program, and rather similar to other sports leagues that involve weekly team practice and weekend games against other teams in the league.
Practices will be Thursdays right after school at Woodstock Elementary from 2:30-4:30 pm.
Games are Sundays (9/13-10/25) 10 am - 12 pm (3-4th grade) and 12 pm - 2 pm (4-5th grade) at Clinton City Park
Check out more information here or contact Dana Chang (dcg.chang@gmail.com) with any questions!
Woodstock Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET)
Woodstock Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) can help you and your neighbors get prepared and build community resilience. NET volunteers get free training from the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) and Portland Fire & Rescue. Learn lifesaving skills to help neighbors during emergencies, big or small.
Woodstock NET is one of more than 50 neighborhood-based disaster assistance teams organized by PBEM. We organize monthly trainings on topics including first aid, radio communications, urban search and rescue, fire suppression, disaster sanitation, community organizing, and many others. Trainings are open to all; no previous experience needed.
We are actively recruiting new members, and weβd love to meet you!
More info at https://woodstocknet.org/
Join or organize a community preparedness pod
Pods are made up of neighbors from two or more nearby households with a shared interest in helping each other during emergencies. Pods help build neighborhood relationships, expand social connections, and share emergency prep skills.
Woodstock Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) is hosting a community workshop on October 11, open to all interested neighbors:
Neighborhood Pod Starter Kit
Sunday October 11, 12:30 - 2:30 PM
Woodstock Library community room
6008 SE 49th Ave.
Most of our NET training covers disaster response β this workshop covers the community organizing skills to build strong neighborhood ties before disaster hits. Practice the 1:1 conversations and first-meeting basics that turn interested neighbors into a community preparedness pod, and leave with a starter kit of tools, a plan for your first outreach, and a group to check in with along the way.
