West September 4
Three Things to Know
First Day of School
We’re excited to welcome back third- and fourth-grade students on September 8! To help our youngest learners transition smoothly, kindergarten families will follow our soft start schedule:
- September 8: Students with last names A–L attend
- September 9: Students with last names M–Z attend
- September 10: All kindergarten students attend together
West Elementary School begins at 8:20 a.m. and dismisses at 3:15 p.m. As a reminder, students may enter the building 20 minutes before the school day starts. Staff members will be available to help them find their classrooms, navigate the building, and walk to/from their buses!
FinalForms
If you have not yet done so, please log in to your FinalForms account to review information, make any necessary changes, and sign off for the new school year. This quick process, which takes less than 10 minutes, is REQUIRED for all families. If you’ve already completed your forms—thank you!
All FinalForms must be completed by Friday, September 25. Students with incomplete forms after this date will not be permitted to attend school until their forms are complete.
Pick-Up/Drop-Off
Please visit the Events and Reminders section to review our drop-off and pick-up procedures for North and West prior to the first day of school. More information can also be found here.
Events & Reminders
A Note For Kindergarten Families
It’s natural for our youngest Middies to feel excited and a bit anxious during their first few days! To help our staff support them, we kindly ask that you label your child’s backpack and clothing with their name and teacher’s name. Using tape, book bag tags, etc. is a great way to ensure we can easily identify them and their belongings.
Transportation
- Car Riders: West and North student drop-off will occur from 8-8:20 a.m. at the “walking path” entrance at the back of the buildings. West and North dismissal will occur from 3:15-3:25 p.m. at the same location. Please familiarize yourself with our full drop-off and pick-up procedures by referencing the packet you received at Open House or by visiting our pick-up and drop-off web page.
- Busing: As a reminder, all route and bus-related updates/communication are shared with families through the StopFinder App (available for download in the App Store and Google Play). Please contact the Transportation Department at 440-748-2125 or visit our busing web page if you have any questions.
Breakfast & Lunch
Cafeteria menus and information regarding student meal accounts can be found on the Midview Local Schools Food Services web page.
Midview Local Schools App - Rooms
Rooms is Midview’s official parent-teacher communication tool. Integrated directly into our Midview Schools app (available for download on Apple App Store or Google Play), Rooms allows you to receive classroom updates/announcements and send or receive one-on-one messages—all in a secure, easy-to-use platform.
- New to Midview or haven’t used Rooms yet?: New families and those who have not yet accepted their Rooms invitation will receive an invitation via text message and email on or before September 8, if you are listed as a custodial guardian in FinalForms. Simply follow the link to download the app, select “Rooms” from the bottom navigation bar, and log in using the email address or phone number listed in FinalForms.
- Returning Rooms user?: We recommend updating the app to the latest version through the App Store or Google Play if you are not prompted to do so when you open the app. The latest version includes new updates and an improved user experience that may not work properly with older versions.
- For more support, please visit our Rooms Support web page.
Kindergarten iPads
Kindergarten students are assigned an iPad that is stored and used in the classroom during the day. Students will not bring their iPads home.
Chromebooks
Our third and fourth-grade students will be assigned a Chromebook on the first day of school. Chromebooks will remain at school and be charged there each day. Students are responsible for taking proper care of their device, charger, and case while at school.
