Message from Ms. Gullo

Dear Yellow Springs Eagles Families,

Yesterday a Find Out First message was sent that shared information regarding the Board of Education’s recent decision.

During a special Board of Education work session this morning, the Board voted to rescind its April 14 decision to return elementary students to in-person instruction four-days per week if families desired that option. Even so, the Board and FCPS leadership are committed to returning students to in-person learning to the greatest extent possible, and FCPS understands this is an expectation many families have. The Board has directed Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban to work collaboratively with the three associations representing FCPS employees in order to return as many students as possible this school year while adhering to health protocols. FCPS is dedicated to providing the community with updates as we continue progressing together through this global health crisis that has challenged us all.

I know this message brings many feelings and emotions for all who are stakeholders in the education of our students, including our families, community, teachers, and support staff. Please know the May 3rd date will not occur for any changes in our student learning model as previously shared in the survey. All parties involved in this process are working to see how we can get as many students as possible back into the school building. Please stay tuned for continued communication about any changes to come. I understand the hardship this brings to families as you are in limbo in knowing how to plan your child’s education, work schedule, and childcare. Let’s continue to work together as the Yellow Spring Eagles community for our students.

I would like to let you know about a change in our school counseling department. Mrs. Workmeister has accepted another position in our school system. We are sad to see Mrs. Workmeister leave us but wish her well in her new endeavor. Mrs. Workmeister’s last day with us will be April 30th. We are happy to have Ms. Kylye DeHaven join us as long-term substitute counselor for the remainder of the school year.

Best regards, Sue
