We acknowledge that Killam Public School is on Treaty 6 territory - the ancestral and traditional land of many Indigenous groups. We are grateful for the animals, the water and the forests that provide us with many resources we use each day. We are thankful for the diverse opportunities that this land offers. We respect the land in which we gather on today.

Principal's Message Principal's Message

Here we are, days away from the end of this school year. As we close this chapter and begin to look forward to the next, we know we are faced with some staff changes. We are bidding a fond farewell and good luck to some key staff members whose absence will be felt:

Mrs. Hogman has been such a fantastic addition to the staff, fitting in seamlessly to any job asked of her. She is such a fun-loving and encouraging human who brightens our school every day.

Mr. Bailey will be missed by staff and students alike. He has played an essential role in school athletics and PE and embraced teaching math 5 this year.

Mrs. Freadrich will be moving on to a position as the Assistant Principal and Kindergarten teacher at Forestburg school. While all losses are big, this seems extra huge. Forestburg is lucky to have her.

As you know, planning for teaching assignments happens every spring as we anticipate what is to come next year. We are also very aware that enrollment can change over the summer as families come and go. Next year, we anticipate the following core assignments:

Kindergarten - we are excited to welcome Jaida Prichard

Grade 1/2 - Mrs. Borgel

Grade 3 - Ms. BP

Grade 4 Math, Science, Social Studies - Ms. Gibb

Grade 4/5 Language Arts - Ms. Gibb

Grade 5 Math, Science and Social Studies - Mrs. Pedersen

Grade 6 - Ms. Armitage

Grades 7, 8 and 9*

  • Science and Grade 9 Language Arts - Mr. Gratrix

  • Grade 7/8 Language Arts - Mrs. Pedersen

  • Mrs. Nelson: grade 7 and some grade 1/2

On Wednesday, June 25, we will host our Grade 9 Farewell and Junior High Awards Night at 7:30 pm in the gym. Please join us to celebrate.

On behalf of KPS staff, we hope everyone has a safe and memorable summer and we look forward to seeing you in the fall. To our Grade 9 students who are moving on next year, we wish you the best as you navigate an exciting new journey full of possibilities. We hope you will take with you fond memories and friendships made at KPS and the lessons you have learned along the way.

To our families, thank you for supporting us throughout the year. Without our amazing Parent Council, Parent Advisory and parent volunteers, our school would look very different. We are grateful for all you do!

Have a safe and memorable summer!
