Message From the Principal Message From the Principal

Dear Wildwood Families,

I want to extend a HUGE welcome to both new and returning families. I look forward to getting to know all of you and all of the students. I am attaching this brief video as a quick introduction for families to watch. I want to make sure that you all know who I am when you see me next week. Thank you for taking the time to watch it and read this first WhatNot of the 2025-26 school year.

As I start my first year as principal, I am thankful for the Wildwood community’s shared commitment to creating an environment where each student feels known, valued, and supported to do their best. This year, we will renew our commitment to living the Wildwood Way each day-being respectful, responsible, inclusive, and problem solvers. We want every student to feel safe and cared for so that they thrive both academically and socially. All students belong at Wildwood.

I am excited for the work we will do together this year and I thank you for all of your support. I am truly grateful for all of the kindness you have shown me already. Please introduce yourselves to me and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns, or ideas. My top priority is working with all of you and our staff to ensure positive outcomes for students. Here’s to a great year at Wildwood!

Please note that class assignments for students in kindergarten will be available in Infinite Campus today, Wednesday, August 6th and class assignments for students in grades 1-5 will be available on Friday, August 8th at 4 PM.

In partnership,

Amy Fry

Principal, Wildwood Elementary School

Important Reminders for the First Week of School Important Reminders for the First Week of School

Morning Drop Off Procedures

  • We encourage families to walk to school whenever possible

  • If you drive to school, please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a safe drop-off:

    • Approach the designated drop-off zone (white curb) in front of the school and remain in your car. You may need to wait a bit in a queue. Please be patient. Starting at 8:20, as the cars in front of you drop off children and exit the zone, you will continue to pull forward towards the drop-off point.

    • REMEMBER: you must approach the front of the queue (drop-off point) before your child will be escorted from the car.

    • For the safety of all children, do not have your child jump out of the car because you have reached the curb. (I know… tempting.)

    • Make sure your child is ready to exit with all their belongings.

    • Upon reaching the drop-off point towards the front of the line (you will not need to get out of the car), an adult will be present to open the door for your child. (Think of this as a valet's greeting!) Your child will exit the car carefully on the passenger side only.

    • Your child will then head directly to their class gathering point. The adults present will help guide when needed.

    • The drop-off zone is for quick and temporary stops only. Never park your car or leave it unattended in this area.

    • Please note: No U-Turns are allowed anywhere on Wildwood Avenue. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe.

Student Arrival Times

  • Students can line up no earlier than 8:20

  • School starts at 8:30

Breakfast

  • Available every day at 8:20 am in the courtyard

Release Times

  • On Wednesdays, all students are released at 1:45 PM.

  • Kindergarteners: Released at 2:00 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) for the whole year.

  • Grades 1-3: Released at 2:00 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) from August 11-August 29 for individual reading assessments.

  • Starting September 2, students in Grades 1-3 will be dismissed from school at 3:00 PM

  • Grades 4-5: Released at 3:00 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) for the whole year.

Afternoon Pick Up Procedures

  • Please make a plan with your child for where to meet at dismissal

  • We encourage families to walk to pick up whenever possible

  • If you use the drop off/pick up area in front of the school:

    • Approach the designated drop-off/pick up zone (white curb) in front of the school and remain in your car.

    • You may need to wait a bit in a queue. Please be patient.

    • As the cars in front of you pick up children and exit the zone, you will continue to pull forward towards the pick up point.

    • You can also park your car and walk to the front of the school to pick up your student(s).

Afterschool Programs

  • Camp Kaleidoscope and ASE Bridge: Staff members will help students transition to the program they are assigned to.

LunchMasters Program

  • Set up your account and place orders in advance. The cutoff to order for the following week is Tuesday morning at 9 AM. For the first week, Nutrition services will order meals for all students.

  • Here is the flyer with all of the information on how to set up your account.

  • Here is an important letter from nutrition services with all of the necessary information.

New Families Orientation

  • Thursday, August 14th from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM in the Wildwood Library.

  • For all K-5 parents and guardians who are new to Wildwood.

What To Bring on the First Day

  • Students should bring a backpack/school bag, a water bottle, a snack, and lunch if they are not ordering from LunchMasters.

  • All school supplies will be provided

Class Placement Class Placement

Student placement is an important process that involves input from teachers, support staff, and administration. Many factors were considered including, but not limited to, individual needs, learning styles, academic levels, peer relations, behavior factors and gender balance. All of our teachers are highly-qualified and collaborate closely to create the best classroom for all of our students. Please note that current student placement assignments are final and therefore in August no changes will be made. Your support and acceptance are requested and appreciated. It will be a great 2025-2026 school year!

Mileage Club Changes Mileage Club Changes

We are excited for the 2nd year of the Wildwood Mileage Club. This year we will meet at Witter from 7:50-8:15 on WEDNESDAYS. The first mileage club of the year will be on 8/20.

Medication at School Medication at School

For a student to have any medication at school, the school office must have a Piedmont Unified School District Medication Form completed and signed by both a parent/guardian and your health care provider on file.

This includes both prescription and over-the-counter medications. Medications must be in their original container, labeled by a pharmacist as required.

Medications will be kept in the office and administered per the doctors instructions, unless it is determined and documented by both the physician and parent/guardian that the student may self-carry the medication. Medication forms are valid for one calendar year.

If you have any questions, please email the District Nurses at nurses@piedmont.k12.ca.us

Medication form can be found here.

Parents Club Update Parents Club Update

On behalf of the Wildwood Parents Club, welcome back for another community-filled school year!

At Wildwood, everyone belongs and WPC invites membership and from participation from all.

WPC represents and includes all Wildwood families. It is run solely by volunteers and relies on membership and fundraising, so every bit counts. We are excited to share in the coming weeks WPC’s goals and programs for the year, which includes both new activities as well as bringing back some traditional ones.

Speaking of, all parents and caregivers are invited to attend the Volunteer Faire and Welcome Coffee after the first-day drop-off in the Auditorium. There will be a showcase of the various programs WPC offers as well as volunteer opportunity signups.

It will be from 8:30-9:30am on Monday, 8/11, in the Auditorium. Come grab coffee and a pastry, and stick around a bit!

Also, mark your calendar on Wed., Aug. 20, for WPC’s first meeting of the school year. More info to come!
