A Few Moments with McCabe
Happy August, Longhorns!
Can you believe it? The calendar has officially turned to August, and three weeks from today the currently quiet halls will be filled with the energy, noise, and excitement that make Parkway West High so special!
Whether you’ve spent the summer lounging, working, traveling, or practicing for fall sports, I hope your break was filled with fun and relaxation. Around here, our summer has been a mix of prepping classrooms, polishing floors, and counting down the days until our students return. (Truthfully, the school is way too quiet without you all!)
To our incoming freshmen and new families: Welcome to the herd! You’re joining a vibrant, supportive community, and we can’t wait to welcome you and help you start your journey as part of the best high school community.
To our returning sophomores, juniors, and seniors: Welcome back! Let’s build on the incredible traditions and achievements that make West High a fantastic place to learn and grow. Seniors—get ready to make this unforgettable!
Quick Hits: Preparing for Day One
Get those schedules ready: Schedules will be released two weeks from today. Be sure to review and check your schedule prior to the first day of school.
Fall Athletics & Activities: Practice schedules and club sign-ups are firing up. Getting involved is the absolute best way to start the year strong!
Orientation Info: Freshmen & New Students - we’ve got a warm Longhorn welcome planned for you. Excited to see you soon!
At West High, our mission goes beyond academics; it’s about growing together, supporting one another, and creating a school culture where everyone feels they belong. We look forward to another year fostering our commitment to taking care of yourselves, taking care of each other, and taking care of this place. The year ahead is packed with potential, fresh starts, and endless possibilities, and I couldn't be more thrilled to lead us into it.
Enjoy these final weeks of summer, rest up, and get ready for a fantastic 2026–2027 school year!

WEST HIGH SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Parkway West High does not utilize a "traditional" supply list. The nature of student schedules and the unique needs of different courses makes a supply list more need based.
For the first day of school, students are encouraged to bring general school supplies along with their charged, district issued Chromebook. During the first day together, teachers outline class expectations, cover the course syllabus, and share any additional supplies needed for their course.
