The current public health crisis has created extraordinary challenges for educators and students. The DBQ Project is here to help address these challenges head-on through our digital curriculum and distance learning professional development.

Workshop Description

Inquiry-based learning not only piques students’ curiosity, it also leads to deeper learning. In this interactive session, participants engage in an inquiry-based lesson featuring DBQ Project materials. Starting with a compelling question, participants go through the inquiry process of interrogating evidence, formulating conclusions, and marshaling evidence to support those conclusions.

  • Our Six-Step Method breaks down what is normally a complex process into manageable, concrete steps.
  • Using DBQ Online as well as other powerful digital tools, the facilitator models best practices for engaging students remotely and face-to-face in the inquiry process.

What People Are Saying

We are truly fortunate to have had the opportunity to receive online training from the DBQ Project as we prepare to incorporate their curricular materials into all our 9th-grade Social Studies courses in 2020-21. Mollie tailored the 2 1/2 hour session to match our Department's needs, taught us a wide range of instructional strategies that could be used to improve student learning outcomes, and masterfully answered questions from our veteran teaching team. (We found her discussion of a range of literacy strategies to be particularly valuable.) I would highly recommend online training from the DBQ Project to anyone.

Stephen Dunn

Social Studies Instructional Director at Lake Forest High School (Illinois)

The virtual PD allowed teachers to use the DBQ Online platform through the lens of both a student and teacher. This was valuable!! Teachers felt more comfortable knowing they have a distance learning platform to use no matter what could happen with online learning in the future. They experienced first hand how to teach and learn virtually. They felt they were supported.

Amanda Solivan

Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator K-12, Tulsa Public Schools

Mollie had a good understanding of my site’s objectives with the DBQ Project and her online materials were well suited in meeting them. Her online training was engaging and well received by my teacher team during this time of distance learning. There was a great balance between theory and hands-on practice from the teacher and student perspectives, and the technology pieces were clearly and professionally explained. I highly recommend this online training and the DBQ Project for both in-person and distance learning.
