CogAT for K, 1 and 5 CogAT for K, 1 and 5

Testing will begin the week after Fall Break, from October 21st to November 1st.

📌 All staff members participating in CogAT testing need to complete test security training prior to their testing session. To make this as convenient as possible, I’ll come around tomorrow during your planning time for a quick training session.

For your reference, all necessary materials are available in our 24-25 Campus CogAT folder, which you can also find on Kimberlin Drive. This folder includes:

📅 The testing schedule

🔒 Test security training slides

📜 Testing directions

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parent resources

📬 Pretesting letters (printed copies will be in your mailbox on Friday, October 11th)

You won’t need to print anything; all required materials will be provided on the assessment day.

Please feel free to reach out to Christa with any questions or if there are any changes you’d like to discuss. Thanks so much for your flexibility and teamwork! 🙌

Happy almost fall break Friday!!!

When we return from our well-deserved fall break, we will be observing Red Ribbon/Wellness Week. Please check-out the easy-breezy dress-up days AND attach this to your ClassDojo before we leave today, if at all possible. As always, as long as you are dressed to match the theme of the day, jeans are allowed….because Ms. Murdoch & Mrs. Hicks love us!!!

We will also be starting our next 7 Mindsets unit, Passions First. Please use the links below to make a copy of the slides. There are extra Red Ribbon activities as part of our “bonus features”. Use what you think best fits the needs of your students. 😊

2ND ANNUAL KAE IDIOM PARADE! 2ND ANNUAL KAE IDIOM PARADE!

It’s time to start preparing for our 2nd Annual KAE Idiom Parade! It will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, after announcements. As you know, understanding idioms helps our students be better conversationalists, readers, and writers!

Please read the Instructions for Teachers.

These are the instructions to be sent home to parents. Please send them home no later than October 11. They will be in your box by the end of the day today. They will be delivered to the homeroom teacher, but if you decide as a team to send it to the RLA teacher, that is your choice!

These are the signs each child will need to create for their idiom, if they choose to participate. They will hold up each sign for a picture, totaling two pictures per child.

One hot tip is to create a SignUp Genius (per homeroom or grade level) so the parents can fill out what idiom their child will represent, so you do not have too many repeats.

This is the folder where you will upload both pictures (per student) so we can make the slideshow and Kahoot for instructional use after Thanksgiving break.

Last year, the parade was a big hit! I can’t wait to do it again!
If you have questions, please ask the amazing Kara Coker.
