MTMS Wolf Wire

MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens.
A Few Words From the Principal
With quarter one in the books it is exciting to see how successful our students were first quarter. We are also excited to see the students new to MT making new friends and figuring out what they need to be successful at MTMS. We are encouraging our students to keep up the commitment to getting work done and turned in on on time and to the best of their ability during this quarter, because Honor Roll is calculated based on semester grades, so quarter one and quarter two grades will be combined to determine semester grades. We will recognize our semester 1 honor roll students at our 3rd quarter showcase night. We hope that we are adding lots of student's names to our Ring of Honor in the commons recognizing those who made the honor roll. If students want to improve their grades during second quarter the counselors have some tips below.
A few things you need to know:
Next Friday is Halloween. This is a regular day of learning for us at MT. We do not wear costumes, hats, or masks. Halloween-related shirts are welcome, but please make sure that they are school appropriate.
This week students should have brought home a copy of their Kansas State Assessment scores from last spring if you did not pick them up during conferences. Please check binders and backpacks if your student has not shared with you their results. If you have questions about the results, do not hesitate to reach out to your student's teachers or me.
With winter approaching and temperatures dropping, please encourage your student to dress for the weather. If the temperature is below 40 degrees in the morning or if there is precipitation the doors to the building will be open for students to enter the school.

Additionally, we invite local veterans and current service members who are close to the MTMS family to join us for donuts and a short assembly beginning at 7:55am.
Please click here to share the name of any veteran you would like us to acknowledge and/or a veteran who will be attending.

Attendance Reminders
As cold and flu season ramps up and our lives get busy, please remember to report absences and late arrivals to the school by 8:30 a.m. You may call the school attendance line at 913-422-5854 or use the online absence reporting form. The school will call to follow-up with unreported absences after 8:30. Students arriving tardy after 7:55 must enter through the front office doors (you are not required to escort late students inside, but if your student is late due to an appointment, please report it to the office in advance so their attendance is appropriately marked).
Students are allowed ten (10) days of excused absences per school year without an accompanying doctor’s note. (This includes illnesses, appointments, and “parent request” absences, which should be coordinated with the school in advance). Absences in excess of ten (10) without accompanying documentation will be considered unexcused. Missing a substantial portion of a day (three (3) or more class periods) shall be considered one "day."
You are not required to notify the office in advance if you will be checking a student out during the school day for an appointment. Please have your ID ready at the door, state your student's name and indicate you are checking them out, and complete the student check out inside and we will call your student from class at that time. Students will only be released to parent/guardians or emergency contacts listed in Skyward unless coordinated in advance with the school.
