VFW Student Scholarship and Contest Opportunities for 2026–2027- Voice of Democracy
- Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Competition | Grades 9–12
- Voice of Democracy gives high school students the opportunity to prepare and record an original audio essay. The 2026–2027 theme is “What A Veteran Taught Me About America.” Students submit a 3–5 minute audio recording along with their typed essay. The national competition includes significant scholarship opportunities, including a $35,000 grand prize scholarship. Entries are due October 31, 2026. Please click here for more information.
VFW Student Scholarship and Contest Opportunities for 2026–2027- Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest
Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest | Grades 9–12
This scholarship opportunity is for high school students interested in visual art. Students submit an original two-dimensional patriotic artwork that demonstrates creativity, artistic skill, and an understanding of patriotism. National scholarships range from $500 to $15,000. Entries are due to the sponsoring VFW Auxiliary by March 31, 2027. Please click here for more information.
VFW Student Contest Opportunities for 2026–2027 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art
- 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest | Grades 9–12
Students may also compete by creating an original three-dimensional work of patriotic art using materials such as clay, metal, wood, fabric, papier-mâché, pottery, or mixed media. Entries may not exceed 18 inches in any direction or weigh more than five pounds. National scholarships range from $500 to $2,500, and entries are due March 31, 2027.
