Magness Creek Elementary

Just like Woody and Buzz, we believe that the best adventures are the ones we take together! At Magness Creek Elementary, we want every family to know that you’ve got a friend in us!

Whether you have a question, need a helping hand, want to celebrate a success, or simply need someone to listen, we are here for you. Our school is more than a place where children learn—we are a family, and we’re always in your corner.

A couple of reminders as we enter our third week in school:

1. The $25 student supply fee is due as soon as possible.

2. September 11 is the last day to order a class t-shirt.

3. We are having our K-3 ATLAS screeners this week and next. These are short, beginning-of-the-year assessments used across the state to check foundational reading and math skills. They are administered within the first 30 days of the school year for grades K-3 in literacy and K-2 in math to spot students who may be at risk.

The PTO Pie the Staff Fundraiser has been set up in front of the Magness Creek library. Our students were treated to a staff Pie Face game during the LEAD Launch Assembly on Friday as a kick off to this exciting fundraiser in order to raise money for Beanstack, a schoolwide program that tracks reading and manages reading challenges. Beanstack was very successful last year in motivating our students to read with cool features like digital badges, streaks, and prizes. Let's aim high, and pie a guy (or a gal) for our students!

LEAD is the name we give to a special weekly time for our students centered around building important character and life skills. More than that, LEAD encompasses ALL of our school culture--the Toy Story theme, classroom connections, and student celebrations. First up in August--goal setting!

Whether you have a lot of time to give or just a little, there is a place for everyone! Our committees are a great way to plug into our school community, meet other families, and make a difference for our students.

Volunteer Requirements 📝

Please note that new background checks will need to be completed for each volunteer each school year. If you are a new parent to Magness Creek, you will also need to complete Hallway Hero training before volunteering. The good news is that this is a one-and-done training that lasts for the duration of your time in the Cabot School District!

We are also looking for someone who might be interested in photographing PTO events throughout the year.
