Creekwood ECC Chat
November, 2025
The month of November brings opportunities and reminders to be thankful. The staff at CWECC is thankful for your children and each day that we get to spend with them. We love watching them learn and grow!
At this point in the year, we see so many changes in the students. We cannot wait to see what the
rest of the year will hold for them all.
Staff Spotlight
CWECC Special Education Team
This month, we are spotlighting our amazing special education team. We have a DD3 class and a DD4 class here at CWECC. Our school also participates in the Unified Champions program, which is like the pre-k version of Special Olympics.
Kelly Schon - Mrs. Schon is our DD3 teacher at CWECC. She teaches specially designed instruction and works with her incredible paras to meet the individual needs of her students. She has worked in the district for eleven years, and has taught special education for twenty years. You can find Mrs. Schon and her two amazing paras in the green pod making a difference in the lives of our very special and youngest students.
Michelle Taylor - Mrs. Taylor is a graduate of Oklahoma City University and Northeastern State University where she obtained her Masters of education, specifically in Autism Spectrum Disorders. She has been with the district for 10 years. Her favorite time is anytime she can be in New York seeing friends on the Broadway stage and traveling. Her greatest "productions" are her two daughters Zoe, who graduated from BA in 2022 and Lily, who graduated last year. This is Mrs. Taylor's second year at CWECC, and she loves the staff and her classroom families so much!
Ashley Brown - Ms. Ashley Brown has been a Paraprofessional at Creekwood ECC for the past 5 years. You will find her working with our DD3 friends in Special Education. She has worked in education for a total of 8 years and she loves making a difference in the early development of the students.
Courtney Swatsenbarg - Ms. Courtney Swatsenbarg is one of the Special Education Paraprofessionals here at our school. She has been here at Creekwood ECC for five years and can be found in the green pod working with our friends in the DD3 special education classroom. She’s also currently going to school full time for a bachelor's degree in social work.
Natalie Ziegenbein - Ms. Ziegenbein is new to CWECC this year. She works with our DD4 class and she enjoys doing projects with the children and watching them learn.
Katelynn Munn - This is the first year at CWECC for Katelynn. She has had several years experience working with young children. She loves helping them work through challenges and seeing the pride on their faces when they do!
CWECC Honors Veterans
We will be hosting a celebration honoring our country's veterans on Tuesday, November 11th at 9am. Families who have a US military veteran are welcome to attend the celebration! We will have a short ceremony and then a parade down the school hall to honor our US veterans. If your family has an honoree, please make plans to bring them to our celebration on 11/11.
Late Arrivals
If arriving after our morning drop-off window of 8:00-8:25, students must be walked inside to the front office and signed in. Adults will not be allowed inside to do this without the school-issued Family ID badge. Please remember your badge when coming in to sign students in late.
Help at Home
Car Line Safety
Please do not allow your child to hang out of the window or moon roof of your car when driving for drop-off in the loop. This is extremely dangerous and could result in serious injury to your child.
After your child exits the vehicle, drivers should keep eyes on the line/road. Waving to, taking pictures and videos of, and talking to your child as you are driving is a safety concern for other drivers, children, and staff.
Please do not look down at your cell phone while in the car loop.
Conscious Discipline
Broken Arrow Early Childhood Centers utilize a program called Conscious Discipline with students.
This classroom management program equips educators to integrate social-emotional learning,
discipline and self-regulation so they spend less time policing behavior and more time teaching
vital life skills. There are many aspects of Conscious Discipline that can also be used at home.
One of the most important things young children can learn at home is how to follow directions.
This is an essential skill that will be needed throughout your child's life, no matter where they are.
Please see the link below with helpful information about how using conscious discipline at home!
If you have any questions about Conscious Discipline, please feel free to reach out to our Family
and Child Resource Specialist, Mrs. Snow.

Helpful Tips:
• Bring photo ID and proof of address/residence (many require this) — especially for all adults in the household.
• Many places limit the number of visits (once per month, or a fixed number of annual visits).
• Some distribution events are drive-through (you stay in your vehicle) while others are “shop inside” style.
• Use the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma’s “Find Food / Pantry Finder” tool (link below) to locate more pantries by ZIP code or town.
• Because hours and eligibility can change, calling ahead to the facility is strongly recommended.
Fundraiser Pick-Up
Thank you for your support with our one and only school fundraiser earlier this fall. Over $20,000 was raised for our school! Please make plans to pick up the fundraiser items that your child sold for our Big Kahuna fundraiser on Friday, November 7 during student dismissal. Items will be available for pick-up from 2:10 until 4:30 on 11/7, but everything must be picked up on that day, as we have no way to store the items.
Soccer Shots
Is your child interested in learning soccer? Soccer Shots is an after school program that takes place on Wednesdays here at CWECC. See the attached flyer for information and the link to sign-up for the upcoming season, which will run November 12-January 7 (off Nov 26, Dec 24, and Dec 31).
Illness Protocol
Unfortunately, this time of year we start to see more illnesses in young children. We do our best to prevent illness at school with frequent handwashing and cleaning of classrooms.
If your child is not feeling well it is best to keep them home until they are ready to participate in all the pre-k learning activities. We ask that you monitor your child daily for stuffy/runny nose, fever, headache/tummy aches, ear and throat pain, or other symptoms of illness.
If your child is sick, they must be fever-free, and no diarrhea or vomiting for at least 24 hours
without the use of medications before they can return to school.
If you take your child to the doctor, be sure to get a school note from the doctor's office and bring it to the school office.
We appreciate your help in keeping the germs from spreading!
Parent University
If your family has an older student (grades 4-10) that is struggling with some stress, make plans to attend this informational session and learn how to help them shine!✨
