Honoring our Veterans
This Veterans Day, Lake Zurich Middle School South will be honoring veterans with a special tribute.
All students will be given a small American flag to place in the ground outside the school along the sidewalk. This activity, organized by our Student Council, will take place during your child's Social Studies class as a "salute to our veterans."
This provides a meaningful opportunity for our students to actively participate in honoring those who have served and learn about the significance of their service.
Thank you to all of the Veterans in our MSS Community for your service!
School Day Committee Work Update
As was shared at the start of the year, District 95 is currently engaging in work to review school day structures at the middle and high school levels (primarily). An update was shared during the November 6th Teaching & Learning Committee meeting; for families who are interested, a brief discussion regarding the committee presentation can be found within the Superintendent’s Report HERE.
A comprehensive report to the Board of Education will be shared at the December 18th Board of Education meeting (no action will be taken at this time), which will include a summary of all stakeholder input, schedule considerations discussed, and schedule options that meet committee outcomes.
Reminder to Report Attendance and Pre-Planned Absences
As we enter the holiday travel season, we want to send a quick reminder to families to please make sure to communicate your planned travel by either contacting the office attendance line (847-540-2702) or through ParentVUE.

Unlocking Student Potential: APA & ACT Night - Post Meeting Information
In October, 2025, District families joined us at Lake Zurich High School to learn how the ACT and Illinois Accelerated Placement Act (APA) support student growth and guide course placement for 2026–2027. A recording, presentation slides, and APA guidelines are attached so all families who were not able to attend have the information needed to guide students in testing and course selection.
IMPORTANT!! OPT-IN FOR TEXTING - STAY INFORMED AND CONNECTED
In an effort to always be prepared to deliver timely/emergency communications, the district contracts with two mass communication vendors - our primary vendor, Blackboard, and a secondary vendor, School Messenger (to be used in the event of an outage with our primary system). These tools enable us to contact you via email, voice mail, and SMS (text message), including during a crisis.
School Messenger requires that all recipients opt-in to receive text messages. Please take a moment to opt-in from your device for text messages so that we are able to reach you when important or emergency information arises if we need to use the School Messenger system.
Opting in is quick and easy - just text “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.
Whitsons is Hiring!

Athletics Information Regarding Important Documents and Registration
Needed Forms Prior to First Day of Activity/Tryout:
For students interested in trying out and participating in a sport, students must have the following:
Physical: All students participating in tryouts and a sport must have a current physical or sports physical on file. Physicals are good for one year and one month from the date the physical was conducted. Please check to make sure your physical is current prior to tryouts or the start of an athletic activity. The physical should be turned into the Nurse’s Office.
Emergency Information Form: Students must have a completed and signed Emergency Information Form for each activity they are trying out for/participating in. They will need to turn this form in to the coach or sponsor at the time of tryouts. If try-outs are not required, then the form should be turned in at the first meeting of the sport or activity.
All required medical forms and athletic schedules can be found on the Athletics & Activities website.
All registration for activities will be in ParentVUE and information about registration will be sent later this summer.
