News from the Principal
Greetings WE Families,
We have had another wonderful week at Westchester. I am very excited for the change in weather and the anticipation of beautiful Spring weather.
We are looking forward to our Spring Fling Performance. Ms. Ryce and Señora Rodes have been working with the students to showcase their talents. Please plan to attend this school performance on April 1, 2026, at 8:45. This is no April Fool’s. We will have all three grade levels share their talents, and we will wrap up by 9:45.

March 14th: Holi Festival 2-4pm.

Dear Families,
I am currently completing my graduate thesis, which focuses on how students learn a second language in the classroom. As part of my research, I would like to use short video recordings taken during regular class activities to help me better understand and reflect on students’ language learning processes.
The videos will be:
Used only for my thesis
Seen only by my professors and me
Not shared online or publicly
Your child’s privacy will always be protected.
Please read below and let me know if you permit your child to be included in these videos.
Tour Decatur!
The Tour Has Officially Launched!
We’re excited to share that it's time for the Tour! Graphics are attached, and the easiest way to register is still TourDecatur.com.
Scholarship Information:
Students who would like to participate in the 5K or the Bulldog Jog and need a scholarship can use the code STARS at registration.
Students who plan to participate in the 1 Mile Fun Run or the Tot Trot do not need to register—schools can request bibs directly for those participants.
New This Year – Team Participation!
When registering, participants can select the CSD school they are representing. The school with the highest percentage of participation will win a trophy and a DEF grant. We can’t wait to see strong school spirit across the district!Event Day Details:
The Bulldog Jog will finish in the green space at Commerce and Trinity. This area will serve as our designated “Barking Lot” for families with dogs, as pets are not permitted on school property.

School Lunch Policy: Please be sure to maintain a positive lunch balance for your child. This will help us avoid any unexpected lunch changes for students. Check your Parent Portal frequently to make sure your child has adequate funds for the cafeteria. You may also find the Parent Portal app (for Apple or Android) to be more convenient.
