Fall Universal Screening Window

The Fall Universal Screener Window will be open August 12-30, 2024. Students in Kindergarten through 6th Grade should complete the iReady ELA and Math Diagnostic as well as Written Expression. For any student who is flagged at risk for Characteristics of Dyslexia falling below the 15th percentile (guidance updated by TDOE), you will follow the screening guidance for the additional assessments and steps.

Remember that the Teacher of Record should not administer the universal screeners. Check with the MTSS Lead for the school universal screener schedule. MTSS Leads and Principals should monitor the progress to ensure completion.

Questions can be emailed to RTI2@scsk12.org.

Responses to Commonly Asked Questions

1. When does progress monitoring begin? Progress monitoring should begin when instruction begins. You have some students who have plans established in the spring and can instruct and monitor in the identified area from those plans.

2. Can we still use the DIG as a reference? When it comes to the DIG, you may reference, but keep in mind that as a guide it will not always match. For example, progress monitoring requirements are different this year than last as we now monitor at the instructional level weekly for Tier 3, bi-weekly for Tier 2 as well as once per month on grade level. Also the ratios are different this year which may cause confusion if you are doing a mass print job and creating folders.

3. Can we begin creating ad hoc groups in TNPulse? You can create ad hoc groups in TNPulse, but as students register, show/no show, student information in TNPulse will be between 24-48 hours behind PowerSchool depending upon when that new information syncs in the PowerSchool. There is a nightly update between PowerSchool and TNPulse.

4. When will an advisor be out to monitor? There are no advisors this year. I will be visiting schools to check in. I am prioritizing visits to schools where there is a new lead and/or new principal.

5. When will the SOAR report be available this year? There are no official SOAR cycles and district level SOAR reporting. You can use the criteria to check to see how your school is doing with implementation.

6. I am an interventionist. Can I have access to the On Target for Success SharePoint? Access to the SharePoint is restricted to the Principal, Lead, and Co-Lead.

7. Do I have to maintain the ratios for Tier 3 students? Yes, there are different ratios for students who are using RTI as required tutoring. Both RTI and Tutoring expectations must be met. This is high dosage and low ratio grouping and done face to face (not computer based). We want to ensure that we implement with fidelity according to what is outlined in TDOE guidance.

To Do.....

  • Monday-Register for one of this week's TNPulse sessions in PLZ and Welcome Students Back!
  • Monday-Verify your access to iReady, aimswebPlus, and TNPulse. If you need access or a school updated, please email RTI2@scsk12.org with the details. If you have already requested updates, you do not need to submit again.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday-Please complete the access request form and email to RTI2@scsk12.org for any staff who does not have access. Keep in mind that lack of access could impact the beginning of the Universal Screening Window which begins for K-6 August 12th.
  • Tuesday, August 6th TNPulse MTSS Back to School Training via Microsoft Teams at 4:00
  • Wednesday, August 7th TNPulse MTSS Back to School Training via Microsoft Teams at 3:00 (repeat session from Tuesday; only attend once)
  • Complete a student roster check Wednesday or Thursday in iReady. You can ask your teachers to log in and take a quick look and let you know. If they don't see a student who is rostered in PowerSchool, please compile this information so you can follow up at the end of the week and allow at least 48 hours from enrollment to appear within the platforms which are updated nightly.

Leads and Co-Leads Needs Assessment

Please be sure to take a moment to complete the Needs Assessment previously shared. This will allow me to better support you as a Lead/Co-Lead. We are at 94 responses which is not quite half of the Leads and Co-Leads.
