LMS Friends,
Welcome to 2022! It is hard to believe it is already January!
Please remember with the colder temperatures, students need to be dressed appropriately for the weather. Students remain outside the building until 7:22 in the morning. We also go out for recess if the temperature is above 10 degrees.
We also wanted to remind folks of the District decision on snow days. The first two days will be considered traditional snow days. Beyond those two days, we will be remote learning. We are including a document below that outlines our remote learning plan in case of inclement weather.
With the increase in COVID numbers, you might consider signing your student up for pool testing. We are including the link to sign-up here (our school code is 81ZM9C). Any questions about pool testing can be directed to Nurse Pageau or me.
In the nurses' note below, there is an update about quarantine/isolation and boosters from Nurse Pageau.
The Lebanon School District is hiring substitutes. If you are interested in substituting or know someone who is, here is a link with information about it. We thank you in advance for considering! 😃
Please remember, we do not have school on Monday, January 17th. We will see our students back on the 18th.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the Scoop! Our next edition will come out the 28th of January!
Regards,
John P. D'Entremont, Principal

AMLE Student Voice Off Contest!
According to Stephanie Simpson, CEO of AMLE, "We were delighted to receive hundreds of submissions from students around the world and enjoyed hearing their viewpoints on issues that impact their daily lives in middle school."
All LMS students were invited to participate by Dr. D'Entremont. We had one student who submitted an entry to the contest.
Great job, Sadie!
Lost & Found
Check it out...we try hard to get things back to their rightful owners, but it is difficult when things aren't labeled.
Drop-Off Reminders - Morning
We ask families to take a right hand turn into the LMS drop-off loop.
Please pull as far forward as you can in the right lane along the sidewalk.
Please have your student(s) exit the first time you stop on the sidewalk side. Please do not stop early to let a 5th and 6th grader out or wait until letting out a 7th or 8th grader.
Please exit via the left lane after you drop your student merging carefully.
Pick-Up Reminders - Afternoon
Again, we please ask you to take a right hand turn into the LMS pick-up loop. We continue to discourage picking up students outside the car loop.
Click the announce button in PikMyKid and your student will be out quickly. If you do not see your student, please park and wait. If you need help delegating to another adult, please see the tutorial in the old news section. If you are having troubling announcing, please ask a staff member outside, park, and wait.
Latest Update by Nancy Pageau
Hello LMS Families,
I’m going to start with some non-covid health information first.
Energy Drinks
We have noticed an uptick in students bringing and/or sharing “energy drinks” in school. Our LMS Student Handbook addresses energy drinks on Pg. 19. “Energy drinks are not allowed in the school building and we strongly discourage students from bringing soda to school. Drinks that contain large amounts of caffeine, as well as other ingredients, can adversely affect the health of our students.”
This may not seem very important, but it becomes concerning when students have side effects from the ingredients in these drinks - headaches, stomach upset, dizziness and fast or irregular heart beat. Students should not be sharing any drinks at school.
Please help us to minimize the possibility of any side effects from energy drinks by encouraging your child to bring a good old fashioned water bottle to use and refill during the day.
Covid Guidelines
As you have heard by now, NH DHHS has adopted the CDC’s new 5 day recommendations for isolation and quarantine. Here is the link to the current guidelines:
Please read the guidelines carefully. I am happy to discuss the guidelines for individual situations as they can get complicated to understand.
Summary:
NH DHHS Guidelines for Isolation
You tested positive for COVID / your symptoms started on ___. This is Day 0.
Day 5 of your isolation period is 5 days after symptoms started or a positive test.
In order to return to school on Day 6, one must meet the following criteria:
Test negative using an antigen test (At Home/Rapid COVID Test or one that is performed at a health center) on Day 5. Provide these test results to your school nurse.
are fever free for 24 hours using no medication.
Symptoms need to be improving AND no new symptoms need to be present.
Wear a well fitted medical face mask for a total of 10 days when around others.
Avoid people who are immunocompromised or at high risk for severe disease for 10 days.
Avoid travel, if possible for 10 days.
If you test POSITIVE using an Antigen Test on Day 5 of your isolation, then you need to isolate for the full 10 days.
NH DHHS Guidelines for Household Contacts for Unvaccinated Individuals
Quarantine period ends on Day 5 as long as a person can isolate away from the positive covid case in your household. If you can’t separate out from the positive covid case, your quarantine period ends 5 days from your last contact with them as long as you meet all criteria listed in the guidelines.
Get tested at least 5 days after exposure using a PCR TEST/ Antigen
Note: PCR is the gold standard diagnostic test for COVID.
Provide the test results to your nurse.
NH DHHS Guidelines for Household Contacts for Vaccinated Individuals
Get tested on Day 5 after exposure, even if you don’t have symptoms, using a PCR TEST/ Antigen. Provide test results to your nurse.
Everyone should continue to monitor for any covid symptoms, stay home and get tested if any symptoms develop.
12-15 year old Boosters
Students who are 12 - 15 years old and 5 months past their initial covid vaccine series are now eligible/recommended to receive a booster. For household contact quarantine purposes one is NOT considered fully “up-to-date” on Covid -19 vaccinations unless they have completed the primary vaccine series AND any booster shot which they are eligible for and recommended to receive.
There are many clinics in the Upper Valley that have the boosters available for 12 year olds and older. This one is happening this Sunday at the CCBA.
CCBA- Sunday, 1/16/2022, 10 am – 2 pm.
The NH Vaccine Van is coming to the CCBA!
- Walk-ins welcome. No appointment necessary.
- Vaccines are FREE! No health insurance required.
- Anyone 5 and older can get vaccinated here. You do not need to be a NH resident or citizen.
- You may receive your first, second, or booster shot.
- Boosters for 12+ will be available.
- Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccines will be available.
- Masks must be worn in the building at all times.
- SUNDAY, January 16th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
Thank You,
Nancy Pageau

Voluntary Pool Testing Signing-Up
To sign up your child, 17 years old or younger, for voluntary COVID testing, please use this link.
For staff and students who are 18 years or older please use this link to sign up for voluntary testing.
When prompted please use the following access code:
- Lebanon Middle School: 81ZM9C
What will happen if a pool comes back positive?
We will follow this process for unconfirmed or confirmed positive cases:
If by chance a pool comes back positive, we will notify the staff and the families of those students in the pool that there is an unconfirmed positive case.
Students/staff in the pool will be asked to monitor for symptoms and will be tested two days later.
After the follow-up testing, those in the pool will be notified of either the negative or positive result.
The person who tested positive will be asked to isolate and close contacts will be notified per the procedures we have been following since the start of the pandemic. The Superintendent will also inform the larger community of the positive test result.

AVA ArtStop
ArtStop is a free after school visual arts program for students in grades 5 through 8, and will be beginning the new season on January 24. It’ll run most Mondays til May from 3:30-5 pm. This winter it will be facilitated by Olivia Janna Genereaux, an experienced artist and teacher who’s very interested in experiential, process-based art making techniques. In the past we’ve had students work both individual and more large scale group art projects, including painting the Lebanon Fountain Covers in Colburn Park.
In the past ArtStop has filled up fairly quickly, but we currently have a few open spots (space is limited to 8 students). While it is free, isn’t a drop-in program, and students do need to register in advance.
Please reach out to register or for any information!
