Staff SHOUT-OUT!

HUGE SHOUT-OUT to the following people:

Kate Nienhueser in the area of Accountability & Service!! Heather Thompson said: "Kate has filled in for Amy all week. She has taken on the role of attendance liaison for the elementary school, answered phones, reached out with messages to teachers, students, and staff members, all while still teaching guidance classes and fulfilling her duties as school counselor. Thank you so much for stepping up and filling in, Kate! We couldn't have done this week without you!"

Thank you ALL for being such shining examples of what we strive for here at S-RC!!

If you see a teacher or staff member who is doing something phenomenal, please CLICK HERE to fill out our Staff Shout-Out form. I will use this form to recognize the amazing things happening in our building by all of YOU!

MAP Growth Testing

As your classes complete their MAP Growth Tests, please fill out THIS DATA SPREADSHEET so we can keep it as up to date as possible!

In talking to Danielle, I learned that 2nd grade has never taken the Language Usage test. Since our 2nd graders still take the K-2 test, I am cancelling the LU test for them. Once we determine we are ready to switch our second graders to the 2-5 test, they will begin taking the LU test as well. We will discuss this as a group later this year (for future years).

Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th are DONE!!!

Third Grade has one more test on Tuesday!!

Covering for Eachother!!

I can not express how much the support and team mentality from each and every one of you means for S-RC students, myself, and the staff you are helping to cover. Over the past week we have been down 5+ staff members on any given day, but our students have been served and we have been able to run smoothly (or at least semi-smoothly) each day! YOU ALL ARE AMAZING! I'm honored and blessed to be part of this team!

PBIS!!

HUGE shout out to all of YOU!

You have all heard that the "MAGIC" ratio in relationship is 5-1. You have also heard that we would like to get to at least 4-1 for individual student positive-negative interactions. I am so excited to announce that our OVERALL ratio for the first month of school is: 31-1 (PAWS slips to yellow sheet referrals)! Yes, you read that correctly. Our current ratio in the elementary building for positive write-ups to negative write-ups is THIRTY-ONE to ONE!

SAT Dates & Reminders

In talking to Kate, we have determined that we need to have a SET DATE each month for SAT. The following dates are the SAT dates for the year:

Tuesday, October 26th

Tuesday, November 30th

Tuesday, December 21st

Tuesday, January 25th

Tuesday, February 22nd

Tuesday, March 22nd

Tuesday, April 26th

In order to add a student to the SAT calendar all of the following MUST be submitted to Kate at least one week prior to the SAT date:

  • SAT Referral Form (completed by classroom teacher)
  • Teacher Documentation Form (completed with AT LEAST two interventions listed - the interventions can be successful or unsuccessful, but must be tracked) Note: please make sure that the interventions you are offering are NOT part of the core. They must be above and beyond what is being offered to other students. Here is a link to a shared folder FULL of intervetions!
  • Parent contact MUST have been made at least twice prior to referring any student to the SAT process

Kate will then send out the following form and schedule a meeting:

  • Parent Input Form (given to parents, but not required in order to proceed)

I want to remind you all that referring a student for a SAT is not a reflection on you or your teaching...

  • The need for SPED testing may be present.
  • The need for emotional support may be present.
  • The need for parental support may be present.
  • The need for a referral to our LMHP may be present.

If you have any questions, please reach out to either Kate or myself for help!

WIN TIME!!!!

It's time to start our rotating WIN Time! I am so excited to give this a try!! Please CLICK HERE to view our schedule for the first three weeks of WIN Time, then watch the video below that explains how to read the document and what we will do during this time!

WIN Time will start Monday, September 20th. This will give you time to plan for your group, find intervention and extension opportunities, and gear up for this FIRST block! We will run this WIN Time (based on Math: Operations and Algebraic Thinking) from September 20th to October 15th. I will have our next WIN Time schedule for you on October 4th. This WIN Time will be base on our lowest area in reading (which is yet to be determined).

I would like to have a teacher meeting next week to answer any questions you may have about WIN Time. Please CLICK HERE to select which date and time will work best for you. We will go with a "majority wins" time that I will send via email.

Homecoming Schedule

The route for the parade will be the same as last year, with one exception: elementary students will stop on the side of the road between the first and second entrance to the school. The parade will then continue to the second entrance. This will allow elementary students to watch the parade!

Busses will be here at 12:50 to pick up ALL elementary students and bus us to the bus barn. We will start filling the busses with 5th grade and work our way down to Preschool.

The parade will begin at 1:30. Elementary students will line up on the east side of the bus barn. We will walk from youngest class to oldest (preschool -5th grade)

Elementary students will sit in the bleachers after the parade for the pep-rally. The pep-rally will finish at 3:15. If parents are there, and have written a note, they may take their children with them from the pep-rally. Any bus rider NOT riding the bus that day must also bring a note with them to notify the bus driver (and teacher) that they are not riding the bus.

Below you will find a diagram for how classes will line up to watch the parade (after they have walked to the school).

NHS Student Tutors

Starting the first Wednesday of October we will have NHS tutors available to work with 4th and 5th grade students. Tutors will be in Mrs. Jakub's classroom from 8:00-8:25. Tutors can work on missing assignments, math facts, reading with students, extra time for projects, or any other needs that students may have.

If we find that our NHS students are able to handle the load from our 4th and 5th grade classes, we will offer this opportunity for lower grades as well.

I am very excited to try this out and offer additional help to our upper elementary students! SHOUT-OUT to our NHS students for offering this opportunity to us!
