WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 20, 2020 WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 20, 2020

FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL:

This week we moved to the next stage of our mission statement where we looked to ENGAGE students in relevant learning opportunities that are based on student interests. While we will still be learning more about students via conversations, formative, and universal assessments, it is important that we implement differentiated instruction in your child's classroom as to provide relevance and meet student learning needs.

Middle School Perks

One of the most exciting things starting off 6th grade and moving up to middle school is getting your first locker. Since we are not in school yet to receive our lockers, students in Ms. Kupcinski's class were given a virtual locker to decorate with items that represent themselves. This was a fun way to get to know each other virtually.

Get to Know You

Ms. Whittle, Mr. Medica, and Mr. Goodwin scheduled personal, small-group meetings with students over the last two weeks to really learn and understand each other. Many in-depth, and personal topics were covered during these sessions where questions stimulated lively debate and light-hearted moments all in an effort to embrace and engage with each other.

Some questions discussed were:

Who would play you in a movie?

What holiday does your family celebrate the “biggest”?

Who knows you best?

Is cereal soup?

And the most highly debated question:

In a Battle Royale Match between a Taco, a slice of Pizza, and a Hamburger, who would win?

In case you are wondering the Taco came out on top!
