A Message from Mrs. Juhasz, Dean of Student Achievement
Hello Star Families,
My name is Mary Juhasz, and I’m honored to serve as the Dean of Student Achievement here at Star Elementary School. I’m excited to work alongside our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families to ensure that every child has the opportunity to shine—both academically and socially.
In my role, I focus on helping all students grow as learners and as individuals. That means supporting academic progress, encouraging positive behavior, and building strong relationships that make every student feel valued and confident.
On a personal note, I’ve had the joy of working in elementary education for over 20 years. My husband and I have raised three children who all attended West Ada Schools, and we’re proud to say our oldest is now a teacher as well! It’s been a true pleasure getting to know the amazing students here at Star Elementary, and I look forward to meeting and partnering with each of you throughout the school year.
Warmly,
Mary Juhasz
Dean of Student Achievement

Fun Run
We met our school goal of raising over $30,000 so we celebrated with a teacher race and pie-ing Mr. Adams! Such a fun celebration bringing our school community together, and Mr. Adams is such a good sport. Congrats to Coach Kendall for winning the race!
Counselor's Corner
Counselor’s Corner
Hi! My name is Summer Ash. This is my 3rd year at Star Elementary and 5th year as a counselor. Prior to counseling, I was a teacher for 22 years. Over the course of the year, I will be teaching your student(s) lessons every 1-2 months during library specials time. My office is in the main hallway (by the red mailbox) where students can drop in or fill out a request slip to see me if they are having a hard day. I love being a school counselor and truly enjoy getting to know and helping students. I am excited for the year ahead.
Please feel free to contact me at any time via phone or email with questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting you! ash.summer@westada.org or 208-855-4110

Growth Mindset! Our October Character Trait
🌱 Growing Our Minds: The Power of Yet!
At Star Elementary, we believe that every challenge is a chance to grow. When students say, “I can’t do this,” we encourage them to add a powerful word: yet. Whether it’s learning a new math skill or tackling a tough project, adopting a growth mindset helps students understand that effort, persistence, and learning from mistakes are key to success. Let’s celebrate progress, not perfection!
"Mistakes are proof that you’re trying."
