Band and Chorus Performance
Speaking of amazing performances, our amazing Fifth Grade Band and Fourth and Fifth Grade chorus made beautiful music these week on the big stage at Ledyard High.
Third Grade Math
Third graders are learning about area and perimeter in math. They use different manipulatives, like tiles, to help them learn about this concept. Miss Engel's class were creating tables that could seat 20 people.
Wit and Wisdom
For their End-of-Module Task, third grade students wrote a multiparagraph essay explaining why artists or scientists explore the sea. This task requires students to use information from one of the module texts to explain why people, including artists and scientists, explore the sea and to demonstrate their ability to write organized paragraphs.
Fourth grade students have been learning about mountains. Then, they created a display for hikers who are starting at a Visitor's Center before hiking a mountain to teach them why a mountainous environment is extreme.
Crazy 8's Math Club
Students in the GFS Crazy 8's Math Club, worked on arranging cubes to make patterns. The cubes had different colors or shapes on each side, so the students had to flip them and rearrange them to make the design that they were assigned!
