⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hilltopper Proud! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We are officially a Five-Star District—and we have every reason to be proud.
This is an extraordinary accomplishment. More importantly, it is a testament to the people who
make Chardon Local Schools such a special place.
Reminder: There is no school Friday, October 9th or Monday, October 12th!
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Hello Hilltopper Families!
Hard to believe, but our first quarter comes to a close in just one week! It has been an absolute joy watching our students settle into their daily routines, build strong friendships, and tackle new learning challenges with such enthusiasm every single day.
Our teachers and staff are so proud of the academic growth and perseverance our Hilltoppers have demonstrated so far. Please take time this week to celebrate your child's hard work and check in on their progress as we finish out the quarter on a high note.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership, support, and encouragement from home. Reading 20 minutes a night and practicing those math facts helps make it easier in their classroom. We are truly looking forward to all the fantastic learning experiences and achievements the rest of the school year will bring!
Warmly,
Mrs. Picone

IMPORTANT!
Please complete your Infinite Campus Mandatory Annual Update!
The Annual Update must be completed by ALL Chardon Local Schools households every year, for every student. WHY? We need your most accurate and up-to-date information so that...
- we can contact you in case of an emergency or other issue;
- you can quickly and conveniently pay for student meals and any school fees online;
- you can access important forms and documents, including report cards;
- your child may participate in field trips;
- our nurses can be notified of pre-existing health conditions, allergies, and any other health concerns your child may have!
HOW DO I COMPLETE THE ANNUAL UPDATE?
Step 1: Log on to Infinite Campus. https://www.chardon.k12.oh.us/InfiniteCampus.aspx
Step 2: Click the menu toolbar on the upper left corner, and click More.
Step 3: Click Online Registration.
Step 4: Find Annual Update, and under "Action", click "Start."
Step 5: Proceed through each tab and update/add information as needed. When you complete the update, be sure to click "Submit."
Congratulations to Mrs. Force's and Mrs. Tyson's Class for 100% completion!
Only 20 students left to complete their update!
If you haven’t completed yours yet, please take a few minutes to do so. Let’s keep that number climbing! ❤️🖤
Every class to complete ALL of their Annual Updates will receive a treat!!! 🍪 (If you are not sure whether you need to complete the Update, feel free to contact the office and we can check for you.) Wouldn't it be fun if we had a WHOLE SCHOOL Cookie Party!? We are SOOOO close!

ABSENCES & TARDINESS
If your student is not going to be in school or is going to be late,
you need to call 440-285-4067 by 9:30 a.m.
**Please Pack a Change of Clothes for Your Student**
Please check your child’s book bag this weekend to ensure they have a full change of weather-appropriate clothes packed every day.
While the school keeps a small backup supply of extra clothing, our sizes and options are very limited. Children feel far more comfortable and confident changing into their own familiar attire.
Please note that if your child needs a change of clothes and doesn't have one in their bag, we will need to call home so a replacement can be brought to school.
Thank you for your help in keeping our students comfortable and ready to learn.
Important Update: Save Our School Numbers to Your Phone!
To help protect you from robocalls, many phone carriers automatically flag unfamiliar school district numbers as "Spam Likely" or block them entirely. We want to ensure you never miss an urgent update, attendance notification, or call from our school and staff.
Please take a moment today to save our main school numbers to your contacts:
Main Office: 440-285-4067
Nurse/Health Office: 440-286-0481
Saving these numbers will ensure our caller ID displays correctly on your screen and prevent important calls from being sent straight to voicemail. Thank you for helping us stay connected!
Topper Tuesdays!
Every Tuesday at Park School will be TOPPER TUESDAY! Join us as Students and Staff wear their Chardon Topper spirit wear or any Red or Black gear you like.
2026-2027 FREE AND REDUCED-PRICE SCHOOL MEALS APPLICATION

Post-Weekend Transitions
Mondays after a long weekend are tough on everyone—including our students. It’s very common for kids to feel a little extra tired, anxious, or sluggish as they get back into the school routine.
A helpful tip for parents: Please avoid telling your child, "Go to school, and if you don't feel good, have the nurse call me and I'll pick you up."
Kids take this promise very literally! If given that option, almost every student will end up in the clinic with a tummy ache or headache by mid-morning. Instead, help build their confidence by reassuring them that Mondays are a transition, encouraging them to give the day their best shot, and letting them know you can't wait to hear all about their day when school ends.
If your child is truly showing physical signs of illness (fever, vomiting, etc.), we will always call you right away! Thank you for helping us set our students up for a successful week.
