Headteacher's Message
Dear Families
As we come to the end of another busy week, I would like to thank all of our students, staff and parents for their support during the recent heatwave. The high temperatures have certainly been challenging, but our students have shown great resilience and maturity throughout. We are incredibly proud of how well they have adapted and continued to work hard in the classroom. As outlined in my communications earlier this week, our priority has been to keep the school open for our community, supporting our families while ensuring that our students remain safe, well and able to continue their learning throughout the school day.
This week has also been a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our Year 11 and Year 13 students at their respective prom evenings. Both events were fantastic celebrations of their time with us and a chance to reflect on the friendships, achievements and memories they have made. We wish all of our leavers every success and happiness as they take their next steps, whether that is into Sixth Form, further education, apprenticeships or employment.
With the warm weather set to continue into next week, students will continue to wear their PE kit until temperatures return to a more comfortable level. Thank you for your continued support with these arrangements.
I would like to wish all of our Year 10 and Year 12 students the very best as they begin their work experience placements next week. This is an exciting opportunity to develop new skills, gain valuable insight into the workplace and build confidence for the future. We hope they enjoy the experience and make the most of every opportunity.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has already completed our parent survey. We have extended the deadline by one week to give as many families as possible the opportunity to share their views. If you have not yet completed the survey, we would be grateful if you could do so using this link by Friday 3 July. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us continue to improve and provide the very best experience for our students.
Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Kind regards
Paul Grills

Parent Survey 2026
We are asking all parents/carers to complete our annual parent survey. This survey provides an important opportunity for you to share your views on different aspects of school life. Your feedback helps us to understand what is working well and where we can make improvements. As this is now an annual process, it also enables us to track changes and trends over time.
The questions follow a format similar to the Ofsted Parent View survey, which many of you completed during our recent inspection. We have also added two additional questions asking what you feel we do particularly well and what we could improve on, as we greatly value your feedback and suggestions.
We would be very grateful if you could complete the survey by Friday 3rd July.
Year 10 MFL Speaking Exams
A message from Ms Green, Subject Lead of MFL
Congratulations to all students who completed their speaking exams over the past two weeks. We have been incredibly impressed with the effort, preparation and commitment shown, and we are delighted to celebrate some outstanding results.
We know that speaking exams can be nerve-racking, but the resilience, confidence and determination demonstrated by our students has been truly commendable. They should all be very proud of their achievements.
Special congratulations go to Sophia Molaeb, Millie Murphet, Lucia Chisholm, Lolo Irwin, Clara Lokuge, Stepan Petrov, Calvin Walter, Divyansh Singh, Ariyah Cunane, Max Turner, Alicia Dickens, Lucas Hutchings, Daisy Nicholas, Barney Shippin, Leonardo Pousti, Konnie Rose Jones, Alex Pope, Vanecia Yui, Kyra Tsang and Amelie Mason for their exceptional performances.
Well done to everyone who took part.
Cycling 600km for Make-A-Wish
This summer, our own Mr Spyridakis, together with former Learning Support Assistant and much-loved member of our school community Mr Lamy, will take on an incredible challenge: cycling 600km from London to Luxembourg to raise funds for Make-A-Wish UK.
Setting off on 18th July, the pair will travel entirely under their own pedal power through England, France and Belgium before finishing in Niederanven, Luxembourg, where Mr Spyridakis grew up. While the ride will be a significant test of endurance, it is motivated by a cause that is deeply personal.
We wish them both the very best of luck and encourage our school community to support this inspiring fundraising effort. If you would like to make a donation, please do so via the link below.
Community Support for Chessington Cricket & Sports Club
We would like to highlight a community appeal following a devastating fire at Chessington Cricket & Sports Club on Monday 15 June 2026. The clubhouse, which has long been at the heart of the local community, was sadly destroyed along with all of its contents. Thankfully, no one was injured.
For generations, the club has provided opportunities for people of all ages to come together, build friendships and enjoy sport. The loss of the clubhouse has had a significant impact, not only in terms of facilities but also the many memories and history it held.
The club has launched a fundraising campaign to help rebuild and recover, with all donations going directly towards restoring this much-loved community space. So far, over Β£10,000 has been raised thanks to the generosity of supporters, but there is still a long way to go.
If you are able to support, please consider donating via the clubβs fundraising page. Every contribution will help them rebuild and ensure the club continues to thrive for future generations.
Digital Learning - Voluntary Contribution
Layering Up for Online Safety
Keeping children safe online involves more than simply applying a filter or changing a few app settings. The most effective approach is to use a combination of tools, settings and ongoing conversations at home.
The Internet Matters 'Layering Up for Online Safety' guide provides practical advice on how to set up devices safely across your home network, individual devices and apps, while also encouraging regular discussions with your child about staying safe online.
A downloadable guide is available, offering simple, step-by-step advice to help you build a layered approach to online safety that is easy to implement and manage at home.
Internet Matters
Welcome to this weekβs digital parenting update, part of our series designed to help you support your childβs online world. Each week, we share advice from Internet Matters with practical tips and resources. This weekβs resource is titled 'Internet Insights Tracker'. You can see a snippet of the resource pictured, please click on the image to view the whole document.
As your child develops digital independence, smartphones and social media can support connection but also bring risks to wellbeing, sleep, and self-esteem. Open conversations, clear expectations, and family agreements are powerful tools to create balance. Download templates here.
Key points for parents/carers:
- Mobile phones are banned at Teddington School.
- Smartphones can affect sleep, wellbeing, and expose children to bullying, harmful content, and peer pressure.
- Most social media platforms are not age-appropriate: WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok (all 13+). These limits help protect against unsuitable content and privacy risks.
At Teddington School, Year 7 and 12 students receive school-managed iPads to support learning. Devices include safety settings and educational apps, with clear guidance for use. Please see our iPad Parent Guide for more information.
We have also produced a Parent EdTech Guide, which provides a simple overview of the online platforms we use, with links and login support.
Thank you for your continued partnership in promoting safe and healthy digital habits.
