End of Term Prayer End of Term Prayer

Loving God,

As we come to the end of another busy term,
we thank You for the many blessings we have shared.

Thank You for the learning, laughter and friendships,
for the challenges that have helped us grow,
and for the special moments we have celebrated together.

We give thanks for our students, families and staff,
and for the care, kindness and support
that make Infant Jesus such a special community.

As we begin our holiday break,
keep us safe in our travels,
give us time to rest and recharge,
and help us to enjoy precious moments with family and friends.

May we return refreshed and ready
for all that Term 4 will bring.

Amen.

Principal's News Principal's News

As we come to the end of Term 3, it is wonderful to reflect on what has been another incredibly busy and rewarding term at Infant Jesus School.

Over the past ten weeks, our students have embraced so many opportunities to learn, grow, perform, compete, celebrate and connect. From achievements in the classroom to sporting events, special celebrations and community activities, there has certainly been plenty happening across our school.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, resilience and school spirit our students continue to demonstrate. It has also been wonderful to see our families and staff come together to support the many experiences that make Infant Jesus such a vibrant community.

Athletics Carnival

What a fantastic day we had at our Infant Jesus Athletics Carnival! A huge thank you to our staff for the time, preparation and teamwork that went into making the day such a success. We are also incredibly grateful to our wonderful families who came along to cheer, support and encourage our students throughout the day.

Most importantly, congratulations to our students! We were so proud of the enthusiasm, sportsmanship and determination shown across the carnival. Whether competing for a ribbon, earning points for their faction or simply giving an event their very best, it was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and supporting one another. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a memorable day for our students!

Athletics Carnival Top 8 Students

While our Champion Boys and Girls are recognised for their outstanding achievements, we also want to celebrate the incredible efforts of all of our Top 8 students! Finishing in the Top 8 is something to be incredibly proud of and reflects the determination, persistence and effort you showed throughout the carnival. Every race, jump, throw and point contributed to this achievement, and earning a place among the top competitors in your year group is certainly worth celebrating! You may not have taken home the Champion medal, but that doesn’t make your achievement any less special. Be proud of what you accomplished, celebrate how far you pushed yourself and remember that success isn’t only about finishing first - it’s about having a go, giving your best and being proud of what you achieved. Congratulations to each of you - we are incredibly proud of you!

Welcome Baby Rio!

We have a beautiful new addition to the Infant Jesus family! Congratulations to Alex and Casey, who welcomed Rio Evie Elliott into the world on Thursday. We send our love and best wishes to the Elliott family and hope they enjoy every moment of this very special new chapter. Welcome to the IJ family, Rio!

A Star in Our Eyes – Harper Shines at the Speak Up Grand Final

We are incredibly proud of Harper Cherubino, who represented Infant Jesus School at the Speak Up Grand Final.

Harper took to the stage with confidence and delivered an inspiring speech about one of her greatest inspirations - the Matildas. She spoke about their courage, resilience and determination, and the incredible impact they have had on young girls across Australia, showing them that “if you can see it, you can be it.”

While Harper may not have come home with the trophy, reaching the Grand Final was an outstanding achievement in itself. The courage to stand in front of an audience and deliver her speech with such passion and confidence is something worth celebrating.

This week, we have also been proudly playing Harper’s Grand Final speech on the screen in our school office, giving students, staff and families the opportunity to see her wonderful achievement and hear her inspiring message.

Harper finished her speech with a line that perfectly captured her dreams:

“Kerr… Raso… Carpenter… Grant… and one day… Cherubino.”

We are incredibly proud of you, Harper. You represented yourself, your family and Infant Jesus School beautifully. You are certainly a star in our eyes!

BYOD Night

Thank you to all the families who joined us for our recent BYOD Night. It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase how technology is thoughtfully integrated into teaching and learning at Infant Jesus School. Families were able to experience firsthand some of the ways our students use their devices to create, collaborate, explore and deepen their learning.

A special thank you to our teachers for sharing their classrooms and expertise with our families. The evening was a wonderful reflection of our ongoing commitment as an Apple Distinguished School and the innovative learning experiences taking place across our school.

P&F Pizza Lunch

We also enjoyed our Pizza Lunch on Monday, which was a fantastic way for our students to share a special lunch together. A huge thank you to our wonderful P&F for organising the day and for all the work that went on behind the scenes. We are very grateful for the time, energy and enthusiasm you continue to give to our school community!

Open Classrooms

It has been wonderful to see our school community coming together this week! Our Open Classrooms afternoon was a lovely opportunity to welcome families into our learning spaces and for our students to proudly share their classrooms, learning and achievements. Thank you to all the families who took the time to visit - it was wonderful to see so many smiling faces around the school.

As we head into the well-deserved school holiday break, we thank our families for their continued support throughout the term. We hope everyone enjoys the opportunity to slow down, spend time together and recharge ready for an exciting final term of 2026.

We wish all our families a safe, happy and restful holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 4!

Have a lovely rest of the week.

Ms Allen’s Italian Adventures Continue!

Ms Allen has certainly been making the most of her travels through beautiful Italy! Her latest adventures have taken her to Florence, where she visited the magnificent Duomo, as well as Pisa, San Gimignano, Siena and Verona, where she stopped by the famous Juliet’s Balcony. She has also explored the stunning Amalfi Coast and stepped back in time amongst the ancient ruins of Pompeii.

Her travels then took her to Rome, where she visited the iconic Colosseum, St Peter’s Basilica and St Paul’s Basilica. One particularly special highlight was attending a Papal Audience — certainly a memorable experience from her time in Italy!

What an incredible journey filled with history, culture, faith and some truly spectacular sights. We hope Ms Allen continues to enjoy every moment of her Italian adventure, and we can’t wait to hear all about it when she returns!

GO FREO!

There was plenty of purple pride around Infant Jesus School this Monday as our students and staff got behind the Fremantle Dockers ahead of the Grand Final! It was fantastic to see so many Dockers colours, scarves, jerseys and touches of purple filling the school.

Even Ms Allen joined in all the way from Italy, proudly flying the Freo flag while on her travels! Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped create such a wonderful sense of excitement and community spirit. No matter where we are, the purple pride runs deep at IJ!

Absentee Notification Reminder

In accordance with school policy, all student absences must be documented in writing. While telephone calls to the school are appreciated, they must be followed by a written note to ensure our records remain accurate and complete.

If your child is away for just one day, please ensure you only enter the specific date of their absence when submitting the notification. Example: 1/9/25 – 1/9/25

We thank you for your cooperation and attention to this matter.

Mobile Phones at School

To support student learning, wellbeing and appropriate use of technology, we remind families that students who bring a mobile phone to school must hand it in to the front office as soon as they arrive each morning. Phones can then be collected from the office at 3.00pm at the end of the school day.

Mobile phones should not be kept in student school bags, desks or pockets during the day. Having phones stored securely in the office helps minimise distractions, supports positive social interactions, and ensures students remain focused on their learning.

We appreciate the support of parents and caregivers in reinforcing this expectation with their children. If students need to contact home during the school day, or if parents need to contact their child, this can be done through the school office.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and focused learning environment for all students.

Paul Litherland

We are pleased to welcome Paul Litherland OAM from Surf Online Safe to Infant Jesus School on Tuesday, 20 October, for a parent information session commencing at 6:00pm. Paul is a highly respected cyber safety educator, former WA Police officer, and founder of Surf Online Safe. He works with schools and families across Australia, helping them navigate the opportunities and challenges of the online world.

In an engaging and practical presentation, Paul will share valuable information about social media, online gaming, digital footprints, cyberbullying, privacy, and strategies for keeping children safe online. His presentations are highly regarded for providing parents with real-world insights and practical advice to support their children in today's digital environment.

Earlier in the day, our Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 students will participate in a dedicated session with Paul, learning about responsible online behaviour, digital citizenship, and safe online practices.

We strongly encourage all parents and caregivers to attend this informative and worthwhile evening.

If you could RSVP to the event by completing the following RSVP.

Year 2 Animal Experts Year 2 Animal Experts

Our Year 2 students have been busy becoming animal experts! As part of our Information Report unit, students researched their chosen animal, gathered fascinating facts and used their findings to create informative reports.

We then took our learning into Design and Technologies, where students used their creativity and problem-solving skills to design and construct their animals using recycled materials. The results were fantastic!

But the learning didn’t stop there! Students became movie stars and used iMovie to create their very own animal expert videos. Using green screen technology, they transported themselves to their animal’s natural environment – from aquariums and rainforests to deserts – while sharing their knowledge and interesting facts.

It has been wonderful to see our students combine research, writing, creativity and digital technologies to bring their learning to life!

U R STRONG U R STRONG

From Bystander to Upstander

In our last newsletter, we explored the difference between everyday friendship problems and behaviour that is Mean-on-Purpose. An important next step is helping children understand what they can do when they see someone else being treated unkindly.

Children will often witness moments where another child is being teased, excluded, embarrassed or deliberately upset. In these situations, they have a choice: join in, stay silent, or become an upstander.

An upstander is someone who notices when something isn’t right and chooses to help.

Being an upstander doesn’t mean children need to confront someone, become involved in an argument or put themselves in an uncomfortable or unsafe situation. Often, small actions can make a very big difference.

An upstander might say, “That’s not cool,” change the subject, invite the person being left out to join them, walk away with them, or quietly tell a trusted adult what has happened.

One of the most powerful things we can teach children is that laughing along, sharing a post, forwarding a message or simply encouraging the behaviour can give Mean-on-Purpose behaviour an audience. Choosing not to participate sends a very different message.

At home, you might ask your child: “What would you do if you saw someone being left out?” “What could you say if your friends were making fun of someone?” or “Who could you go to for help?” These conversations allow children to practise what they might do before they find themselves in the situation.

We also want children to understand the difference between telling and tattling. Tattling is often about trying to get someone into trouble. Telling is about trying to get someone out of trouble or keep someone safe. Asking an adult for help when someone is being deliberately hurt is never something children should feel embarrassed about.

Most importantly, we want our students to know that they have the power to influence the culture around them. They don't have to be the loudest person in the group or make a grand gesture. Sometimes kindness looks as simple as sitting beside someone, checking that they are okay, refusing to laugh along or saying, “Come with me.”

When enough children choose kindness over an audience, Mean-on-Purpose behaviour loses much of its power.

Together, we can help our children develop the courage to notice, include, speak up and seek help -because creating a safe and respectful community is something we all have a role in.

Wheelchairs For Kids

One of the charity groups we support, as a school, is Wheelchairs for Kids, who build wheelchairs for underprivileged children around the world. In fact, the work that W4K does has earned co-founder Brother Olly Pickett the 'Senior Australian of the Year' award in 2025

So how we can help? W4K takes donations of ring pulls, the aluminium tags on the tops of cans. We are asking families to collect ring pulls and bring them to school. Please place the ring pulls in the bin provided outside the iLab.

End of Term Wrap Up

It’s been a fun filled fortnight as we wrapped up Term 3, beginning with Faction Colours Day last Friday. Thank you to the parents who gave their time before school to help spread Carnival spirit with faction coloured hair spray and face paint. The children looked Carnival ready before boarding the buses to Noranda, and what a fantastic day it was!

This Monday, we celebrated IJ Day a little early with our P&F IJ Pizza Lunch. With 209 pizza boxes collected, students enjoyed sharing a special lunch with their friends. A big thank you to Domino’s Pizza Noranda for providing a generous discount and for helping make the day such a success.

We are excited to announce the donation of a collection of board games and card games for our classrooms. This week, each year group received a tub of games, and we hope both students and teachers will enjoy these new resources.

Whether used during learning rotations, small group activities, indoor play sessions, extreme weather days, or simply as a fun class reward, these games will provide valuable opportunities for learning, teamwork, problem-solving, and social interaction.
