Happy New Year! We hope you had a restful winter break and enjoyed quality time with your family. As we kick off the second half of the school year our focus is simple but vital: Rebuild routines after break; set new attendance intentions.

Transitions back to school after a long holiday can be challenging for both students and parents. However, the first few weeks of the year are the perfect time to "reset" and establish the habits that lead to academic success.

Consistent attendance is more than just a school rule; it’s a foundation for life. When students arrive on time every day:

  • They feel more confident: Missing the first 15 minutes of class can make a student feel behind for the rest of the day.

  • They build stronger friendships: Social connections are reinforced through daily interaction.

  • They master the material: Learning is cumulative, and every day builds on the last.

Small Wins for a Successful January Reset

  1. The Night Before: Lay out clothes and pack backpacks before bed to avoid the morning rush.

  2. Adjust the Clock: Gradually move bedtimes back to school-year hours if they shifted over the break.

  3. The "Attendance Goal": Talk with your child about a personal goal for the month, such as "reaching school 5 minutes early" or "perfect attendance for the first two weeks."

Let’s make 2026 a year of growth and consistency!
