What to Expect at Your Session

  • School Photos & Student IDs: Students will have their official school photo taken and receive their new Student ID card, which conveniently serves as their TriMet HOP pass.

  • Yondr Pouches : All Students will be issued their Yondr pouches. Please note: Students are responsible for maintaining their assigned pouch. The replacement cost is $34.

  • New Chromebook Distribution: Every single student will receive a brand-new, school-issued Chromebook and charger for the 2026/2027 school year. This will be their device to use until they graduate.

Pro tip: Bring a Backpack!

Because all students will be walking away with a new Chromebook, charger and Yondr pouch, we strongly ask that students bring a backpack. This will make it much easier to safely transport their new tech home to charge up and get ready for the start of school.

Visiting and Volunteering @ PPS/Grant

Portland Public Schools utilizes a visitor/volunteer management system for persons visiting schools. PPS is committed to ensuring our schools are safe places for our students and staff, and this system enables us to be certain we know who is in our schools at all times. Volunteers must first be approved and background checked by the district. To apply to be a volunteer, please visit www.pps.net/volunteer.

This software system also enables PPS to screen visitors and volunteers against the sex offender registry. Names and date of birth are compared to the sex offender registry only. No other external sources are checked and the information you share is securely stored in an internal PPS database. Please note that registered sex offenders are not permitted to enter school grounds (View Policy: Registered Sex Offenders 3.10.015-AD). All visitors/volunteers will need to wear the printed name badge that identifies their name, photo, the date and their destination.

We thank you for your understanding and support of enhanced school safety protocols in our district.

  • Kleenex / facial tissues

  • Clorox wipes

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Sharpies and whiteboard markers

  • Individually wrapped student snacks such as granola bars/cereal bars/protein bars/crackers and other pre-packaged items (for our school nurse and social worker to hand out to students who need a quick energy boost during the day!)

Getting to Grant High School Safely: Transportation & Morning Entry Reminders

As we prepare for the new school year, we want to ensure every student arrives at school safely and on time. Please take a moment to review these important reminders regarding arrival and transportation:

FREE TriMet Bus Passes & Student IDs

  • All students will receive a FREE TriMet bus pass at Gear Up Day. this pass also serves as the student’s Official School ID and is required for entering the school building during the school day.

Plan Your Route: You can check routes and service times on the TriMet Maps & Schedules website.

Morning Entry Policy

All students must enter through the main doors (located on 36th Ave) in the morning. Expect heavy traffic & plan ahead. We cannot let you in other doors.

  • Parking around Grant High School is very limited. The streets surrounding the school get extremely congested during drop-off and pick-up times.

We strongly encourage students and families to leave early, carpool, walk, bike, or ride the bus to help reduce traffic. Please talk with your student about staying alert when crossing the street-avoiding distractions like phones or earbuds and always using marked crosswalks as we have many new drivers on the roads around Grant.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our Grant community safe and our school days running smoothly!

Valid June 1–August 31

The TriMet Summer Pass is valid on all buses and trains across the Portland area, making it easier than ever for students to explore their communities. Whether it’s commuting to a summer job, attending enrichment programs, volunteering, or simply meeting up with friends, the pass removes the stress of coordinating rides and reduces the burden often placed on parents and caregivers.

Available to all eligible students regardless of financial resources

The Summer Pass is available to all eligible students, ensuring equitable access to opportunities across the region. However, passes are limited, so early sign-up is strongly encouraged to guarantee access before they run out.

It’s a pass to access all things summer

While savings are significant, the value of the Summer Pass goes far beyond cost by opening the door to discovery, independence, and new experiences. Students can easily reach rivers, parks, museums, swimming pools, sports fields, courts, local markets, libraries, and cultural events happening throughout the metro area.

Getting started is simple

Or, load the Summer Pass on your Hop card by filling in the form above.

Make sure you are prepared. As a reminder, AP score reports are available to the student, the college(s) the student elects to send their scores to (including the college they indicate through My AP as the recipient of their free score report), and their secondary school, district, and state.

Students have until June 20 to send one free score report to the college, university, or scholarship organization of their choice. When they sign in to My AP, they’ll see a pop-up window with instructions for making their selection. Students’ official score report will be sent in July, and it will include scores for the AP Exams that they took this year as well as any past AP Exam scores. More information about the free score send is available on the AP Students website.

2. Go to My AP Profile and select Registration. Confirm it's set to the right school year, 2025-2026.

Summer EBT is back! It is a grocery benefits program that helps families buy food for their school-aged children when school is out. Each summer, families will get one payment of $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries. Program starts June 1st. Families with eligible children will be notified when benefits issue. https://www.oregon.gov/odhs/food/pages/sebt.aspx

ATHLETICS ATHLETICS

If your student is planning to play a fall sport, please review the important information below to ensure they are cleared and ready to go for the first day of practices in August.

✅ The Athletic Clearance Process

To hit the field, court, or track, all student-athletes must complete the clearance process. Here is a quick checklist of what needs to happen:

  1. Register Online: Complete the 2026 Fall Registration on ArbiterSports. Parent/guardian and athlete should complete this together!

  2. Submit a Valid Physical: OSAA rules require a physical examination every two years. Make sure an up-to-date, signed Oregon physical form is uploaded to your registration or submitted to the Athletic Office.

  3. Pay the PIL Fee: Pay the PIL participation fee via SchoolPay (or apply for the reduced rate/fee waiver if applicable). Note: For "cut" sports, hold off on payment until rosters are finalized.

Sports Physical Information Sports Physical Information

All student-athletes are required by OSAA to have a valid sports physical on file before participating in athletics. Physicals are valid for two years.

How to Handle Your Physical During Registration

  • If you already have a valid physical on file: You are good to go! If you use the same account, the expiration date will automatically populate when you start your new registration.

  • If you need a new physical but want to register today: Go ahead and register! You can submit the physical later. Once you have it, simply log back in to upload the document to your students account.

Questions?: Email ecole@pps.net

Important: Please do not hand your physical directly to a coach. We also highly recommend keeping a backup paper copy for your own records!

Schedule Now: Summer Appointments Fill Fast

Don't delay booking your appointment! If you are having trouble getting in with your primary care provider, here are some excellent alternatives:

  • Free Multnomah County Clinics: Free sports physicals are available at the Parkrose and David Douglas Student Health Centers all summer, with additional special clinics opening in August.

  • Benson Wellness Center: Open Tuesdays and Thursdays through August 20th

  • Urgent Care: Most local urgent care centers offer convenient walk-in sports physicals.

📎 Required Forms
