Having taught environmental conservation, coordinated Hispanic Outreach of Goodhue County's youth and family program and worked as a substitute teacher, Eva Dubois brings a variety of experiences to her role as Twin Bluff Middle School education assistant.

GET TO KNOW EVA DUBOIS

A lot happens at Twin Bluff Middle School. Eva Dubois, now in a second year as a paraprofessional, is more embedded than ever.

“This year I am working with all grades, including special education: My days are really dynamic,” she said. “In my first week of work I arrived at home with the radio attached to my pocket, and it almost happened again!”

What is your favorite thing about your job as a RWPS paraprofessional aka education assistant?

The environment of working with the staff and students is really agreeable. Every day we have a smile on our faces because we believe in our slogan: Be safe, Be kind, Be responsible, and we share with each other.

How do you find ways to connect with students?

I always try to help them in class and talk on “student middle school topics” that I like, too. For example, Anime. I don't love Naruto, but I love Dragon Ball and Pokemon!

Describe something people might not know about paras.

The paras try to connect with students to help them. The paras can see “the soul” of the students and choose the best strategy that helps to build the confidence that they need to complete their work.

How do you spend your free time?

Every season of the year, I like to go to the zoo, go to museums and get to know new restaurants. But especially in summer, I love to go to concerts and swim in the lake!

The AICE Hub is Red Wing Public Schools’ central support team for AI-Integrated Computing Education (AICE). It turns the Flight Path 2030 plan into action by coordinating tools, training, pilot projects, and feedback.

In March, the AICE Hub:

  • reviewed and distributed guidance to staff and families regarding the appropriate use of AI in Red Wing Public Schools,

  • attended professional development led by Northern Lights Collaborative and DataSpire.

  • confirmed that all 3 new computer science courses will run in 2026-27.

  • reviewed the early prototype of a dashboard to measure the impact of FP2030 over the next five years.

  • contracted for additional AI literacy support from aiEDU.

  • confirmed additional professional development (i.e. conferences) outside of RWPS in alignment with FP2030 objectives.

  • planned for an AI Integrated Computing Education Planning Workshop to begin to connect the foundational professional development conducted this year on computational thinking, computer science, data literacy and AI literacy to prepare for curriculum writing for 2026-27.

  • initiated year 2 planning for FP2030

Bus Stop & Walk is back now that spring has arrived. Weather permitting, Burnside, Sunnyside and Twin Bluff schools soon will have school buses stop at designated locations near the buildings but far enough away to let students stretch their legs before school begins. Students who don't ride the bus are encouraged to walk, too.

We've got the power!

STEAM students recently explored hydraulics. They created small machines that use water. The water -- an incompressible fluid — transfers pressure from one syringe to another, amplifying force to raise heavy loads.
