Early Dismissal On Tuesday, May 6th
Tuesday is Early Release Day
Redwood Families,
This is just a reminder that the district will have an early release day Tuesday, May 6th. Full Day Kindergarten and first through fourth grade students will start their day at the normal time, but will be dismissed from the elementary buildings at twelve noon. Dismissal will follow the same procedure as always. Walkers will begin exiting at 11:55 and car riders at noon.
For students in half day kindergarten and the LEAPS program, students that typically attend the morning session WILL NOT have school on this day. Students who normally attend the afternoon session will attend on the 6th, but will be attending in the morning session timeslot. For kindergarten students this is from 8:50-11:35, and for LEAPS students the morning time slot is 9:00-11:30. If your half day student is a bus rider, you should receive notification listing pick-up and drop-off times from the classroom teacher, if you did not, please contact the teacher or school office.
There will be NO Champions Program in the afternoon on the 6th. Students who typically attend afternoon Champions must be picked up at the 12 noon dismissal time.
All full day students will eat their lunches in their classrooms on the 6th. Lunch will start at 11:15 am and end at 11:45 am for all students. Students will have an opportunity to pack or buy their lunches as normal. There will be no extras offered on the early release day. If your child wants to receive a school lunch that day, there will only be one lunch option available.
The lunch option for the 6th will be:
Chips and Salsa
Cheese cup
Apple Slices
Milk

Electronic Student Devices - cell phones and watches
As more students bring cell phones and watches with wi-fi and data capabilities, it is
important to remember and inform your children about the policy of using them while at
school. During school hours, students must keep the phone in the locker/cubby or
backpack and have it turned off. If a parent needs to contact their child or a child needs
to contact a parent, that communication must go through the school and in most cases
the main office. Watches are another area where communication may occur if wi-fi or
data are enabled. Students may wear watches and use the watches for time telling
purposes or tracking their steps and other non-communication purposes. However, if
students and parents are using the watch to call and text each other, those devices will
be viewed more for communication and will be asked to be put away each day like a cell
phone. Thank you for your attention to this matter and following these rules.
Notes From the Nurse
Notes from the Nurse:
I am starting to see an increase in Flu A positive in our students. Lorain County is reporting that the seasonal influenza this week and last week is HIGH (link for the report: https://odh.ohio.gov/know-our-programs/seasonal-influenza/influenza-dashboard). As per school policy, students should be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication before returning to school. Other symptoms to consider for the flu would be: persistent cough, ear pain, sore throat, headache and fatigue. Please reach out to your building nurse for further questions.

Back -to-School-Forms
Looking Ahead
Over the summer months you will receive an email notifying you to complete your student's back-to-school forms via your PowerSchool Parent Account. All forms are to be completed prior to the first day of school. This is a one-stop shop for updating your child’s emergency and medical information as well as signing off on the annual permission forms for school district policies.
If you have more than one child in the school system, you only need one PowerSchool Parent Account. All of your children, regardless of building attendance, are to be added to your one account BEFORE you start completing the back-to-school forms.
If you have any questions about your PowerSchool Parent Account, please contact:
- Maria Szarek - (440) 933-4829 or
- Theresa Martin - (440) 933-0984
