90% Attendance Rule For Credit/Final Grades

Texas Education Code Section 25.092~MINIMUM ATTENDANCE FOR CLASS CREDIT OR FINAL GRADE

What Does The 90% Rule Mean For Your Child?

• In addition to Texas compulsory attendance laws, districts are required to enforce the 90% rule which states that students in grades Kindergarten through 12th must attend a class for 90% of the time it is offered to receive credit or a final grade. This rule applies even if your child has an IEP or 504 Plan.

• September is Library Card Sign-up Month, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Children's Good Manners Month, Suicide Prevention Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, World's Alzheimer's Disease Month and National Preparedness Month.
• September: Beginning of the Year Assessments
• September 7: Labor Day Holiday (Staff/Student Holiday)
• September 10: Fall Picture Day
• September 11: Big Kahuna Fundraiser Kickoff; Wear your Texans Gear for the Home Game Opener
• September 12: Princess Picnic from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Channelview HS Kolarik Rotunda
• September 14: Parent Lunches (10:20 AM Kinder and Chark; 11:25 AM 4th Grade; 12:10 PM 5th Grade & Hawkins)
• September 15: Parent Lunches (10:35 AM 3rd Grade; 11:10 First Grade & SLC K-2 Parents; 11:50 AM 2nd Grade & Johnson); Board Meeting at Channelview Administration Building 7:00 PM
• September 16: Parent Lunches (10:20 AM Kinder and Chark; 11:25 AM 4th Grade; 12:10 PM 5th Grade & Hawkins)
• September 17: CHS Falcon Welcome Crew; Back to School Dance; Parent Lunches (10:35 AM 3rd Grade; 11:10 First Grade & SLC K-2 Parents; 11:50 AM 2nd Grade & Johnson)
• September 18: Student Holiday (District Staff Professional Learning Day)
• September 21-25: Start with Hello Week! CHS Homecoming Spirit Week!
• Monday, September 21st: Tourist Day - Dress like a tourist ready to explore a destination!
• Tuesday, September 22nd: Tropical Day - Wear tropical colors, Hawaiian shirts, and leis.
• Wednesday, September 23rd: Around the World - Show your pride and wear attire from around the world. It can be a jersey, traditional clothing, or represent the colors of your country's flag.
• Thursday, September 24th: Back in Time - Wear attire from your favorite decade: 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's 2000's.
• Friday, September 25th: CHS Falcon Pride Colors or Travel to Dollywood and Pink Out for Dolly Parton!
• September 28: DEIC Meeting 4:15 PM Channelview Boardroom
• September 30: Wolf Night (Open House) 4:30 PM
