Berkeley County Schools will mark an important transition this month as we prepare to close Gerrardstown Elementary School ahead of the opening of Mountain Ridge Primary School for the 2026–2027 school year.

Gerrardstown Elementary opened in 1925 and has served its community for 100 years. Over the decades, it has supported generations of students and families, adapting to changing times while remaining a steady center for learning and growth.

To recognize this milestone, a Final Bell Ceremony will be held at Gerrardstown Elementary School on May 20, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event will provide an opportunity for students, staff, alumni, and community members to reflect on the history of the building and its role in the community.

As we look ahead to Mountain Ridge Primary School, we also take time to acknowledge the lasting legacy of Gerrardstown Elementary School and the impact it has had over the past century.
