I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying a wonderful summer! As the school year approaches (not quite yet 🙂) I wanted to share what's been happening here at LES and provide important information to help you prepare for the upcoming school year.

Our Facilities Department paid a lot of attention to LES in July. They repaved our parking lots and relined our handicap parking spots to allow for better traffic flow and clear one-way signage. They are currently resurfacing the rubber-floor play spaces outside two of our classrooms. Our modular is getting a bit of a facelift as well, with new insulation and a drop ceiling being installed.

Our technology department has outfitted the building with an additional 12 emergency response devices (strobe lights and speakers) to enhance security inside and outside the building.

Jumpstart for our incoming Kindergarteners begins on Monday, August 5th. We have 34 kindies coming to spend the morning with Ms. Karlson, Ms. Strauss, Mr. Berry, Ms. Cutter and Ms. Zattoni for some fun, friends, and school readiness experiences. How lucky are they!? 😉 This program will run from August 5th through August 12th (no Fridays).

Important Dates:

Thursday August 29th- Orientation for new to school families entering 1st/2nd/3rd grade @9AM

Wednesday, September 4th- Kindergarten Open House from 1-1:45

Wednesday, September 4th- PreK Open House from 2-2:45

Thursday, September 5th- First Day of School- full day 8:45-3:30

While we will have the necessary supplies for students to begin the school year, please see your child's placement letter for more information regarding back to school supplies.

Your child's placement information will be sent electronically on Thursday, August 22nd.

Our PTO is a great way to stay informed and get involved in school activities. More information to come on ways to get involved!

If you stop by our garden, you will notice a new addition to our beautiful outdoor space. Each month, our Climate Change Learning Post will highlight important information reflected in our science standards on ways to take care of our earth!
