Miller Families:
Happy Friday, Bobcats!
WOW! What an incredible community we have here at Miller! I want to begin this week's message with a heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing Bobcat families for the overwhelming response to our call for help with this year's Monster Bash! Last week, we reached out with a significant need for volunteers, donations, and support, and you answered that call in a BIG way! Whether you donated money, contributed supplies, volunteered your time, or helped spread the word, please know how deeply grateful we are. Events like Monster Bash simply don't happen without the generosity and commitment of our school community. To our incredible parent volunteers who have spent countless hours planning and preparing for today's festivities, THANK YOU! Your dedication to our students is something truly special, and I couldn't be prouder to be part of this Miller family!
It's also been an exciting week for Bobcat athletics! Congratulations to our cross country runners and flag football teams for their outstanding performances as they wrap up their seasons. We are so proud of the way our student-athletes represent Miller with pride, determination, and sportsmanship!
Looking ahead, we've got a FUN week on the horizon! Our Monster Bash celebrations continue Tuesday with our Pizza Party and Redemption Day, followed by Miller Thriller on Wednesday and Halloween Costume Day on Thursday! Please be sure to review our costume guidelines so everyone can enjoy the festivities safely and appropriately. You'll also find important information about academic plan approvals for our 6th and 7th grade families, along with details about our upcoming Family Science Night!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. It's a GREAT time to be a Bobcat!
Have a wonderful weekend, Bobcats!

Halloween Costume Guidelines
On Thursday, October 29, 2026, students are allowed to wear costumes to school in celebration of Halloween. Given this allowance, we are providing families with expectations for costumes and conduct. Please note that costumes are only allowed on this day even though seasonal activities will take place on Friday, October 23 (Monster Bash) and Wednesday, October 28 (Miller Thriller). If your student plans on wearing a costume on October 29, 2026, please discuss the following guidelines with your student:
Absolutely NO simulated weapons of any kind are allowed. No pretend swords, guns, grenades, knives, etc. Nothing that could possibly be perceived as a weapon or a simulated weapon is allowed.
Costumes must comply with CCSD and Miller's dress code. No short shorts, short skirts, or revealing tops will be permitted.
No gang-related attire will be allowed.
- Hats that are part of a costume are permitted. However, masks, face coverings, hoods, or other items that obscure a student's identity are prohibited.
- No large or bulky costumes. A costume may not be so obtrusive that it prevents the student from sitting comfortably at his/her desk, or so obtrusive that it prevents other students from a clear view of instruction within the classroom. Inflatable costumes are not permitted.
Student costumes must be respectful of body images, and may not emphasize negative stereotypes of any person, gender, or ethnicity. Cultural sensitivity is required.
Students may not interfere with other students' costumes. Students and families spend a lot of time, thought, money, and energy preparing their costumes. It is unacceptable that a student's costume be damaged by another student.
Face paint is not permitted. Students may not apply makeup at school. Hair may be temporarily colored for the occasion, but this must be done at home.
Thank you for taking the time to discuss these expectations with your child. We truly appreciate the time our Miller families invest in their child's education.
Bus Evacuation Drills
Bus Drivers will conduct school bus evacuation drills in the mornings from October 26 to November 2, 2026. All students receiving transportation services are required to participate. Please be patient with drivers as there may be a delay in departing while drills are being conducted.
Academic Plan Parent Review & Approval - 6th & 7th Graders
This week, Ms. Duran, our 6th grade counselor, and Ms. Edwards, our 7th grade counselor, met with students to help them complete their Academic Plans in Infinite Campus.
Each student is required to have an approved Academic Plan outlining educational goals for their middle school years. These plans serve as guides for academic progress and may change from year to year. An Academic Plan is not a set class schedule.
As partners in education, parents and guardians are asked to review and approve their student's Academic Plan through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Please take a few minutes to review the plan with your child before submitting your approval.
Directions for how to approve Plans in Infinite Campus are found here: Approving an Academic Plan in the Parent Portal
Approvals must be completed by Friday, December 18, 2026.
If you have questions about the Plan, please reach out to your child's counselor for assistance at 702-799-2260 x4300 or via email:

Student Fee Information
The Miller School Organizational Team reviews proposed family fees annually. Student fees for instructional materials and athletic packets support programming at Miller Middle School. Our school operates with a limited supply budget and invests the majority of our strategic budget toward faculty and staff. It is through your donations and fee payments that we maintain the robust programming that Miller families enjoy and appreciate.
Students receive novels to keep as a part of their English Language Arts fee and access to the math program ALEKS as part of their math fee. Additionally, we invite families to donate $30 for technology sustainability. No student will be denied a free and appropriate education at Miller Middle School. If you require a scholarship, we are happy to assist. Please contact the counseling office to make that request.
Fee payments are available on our webstore, MySchoolBucks.com.
CCSD's One-Price Model
Clark County School District has long followed a One Price Model, meaning the posted price of a school fee or item is the same regardless of whether payment is made by cash, check, debit card, credit card, or online.
During the District's previous payment system, cash and check payments may have appeared to be lower because payment processing costs were handled differently. With the implementation of the District's new payment platform, the District has returned to its longstanding One Price Model.
Every payment method has associated costs. While credit card processing fees are more visible, cash and check payments also require staff time, reconciliation, deposit preparation, banking services, security, cash transit, documentation, and audit oversight. The District considers these to be operational costs of doing business rather than assigning different prices based on the payment method.
Using one consistent posted price helps ensure fairness for all families while supporting consistent accounting, financial reporting, and audit compliance across all schools.
Transportation Information
CCSD Bus Transportation
For information on bus transportation, visit CCSD's Website HERE.
Parents/guardians with children eligible to ride the bus should download the CCSD Onboard application on their mobile device.
The app provides student bus stop information, bus alerts, and tracks bus routes.
The Onboard app is available for download in the Apple Store and Google Play.
Henderson Teen Scene (Safe Key)
Families must develop an after-school care plan for their children. Students are permitted to use a phone in the front office to call a parent or caregiver for a ride.
If a student cannot be picked up by 2:00 PM, they should be enrolled in the Henderson Parks & Recreation (HPRD) Teen Scene Program. Due to obvious safety concerns when students are left unsupervised, students who remain on campus but are not picked up by 2:00 PM will receive a Request for Parent Conference form from the Student Success Center. During this parent conference, the administrative team will work with the family to develop an after-school care plan.
If you have any questions or need assistance with registration, please don't hesitate to reach out to Safe Key/Teen Scene at COHRecOnline@cityofhenderson.com or call 702-267-4122.
Student Life
Student Athletics
CLICK HERE for important dates and tryout information for our athletics programs. If your student is trying out for a sport at Miller Middle School, parents will need to complete registration through Aktivate/Register My Athlete (RMA) and provide current/valid health insurance information before the student is cleared to participate. The process may take 30–45 minutes to complete. For some, it will take longer. Below are some handy tips and links related to registering for sports: These Student-Athlete Registration Instructions may help in the process. If you need something more thorough, this RMA/Aktivate Parent Manual may be of help. As you work your way through this process, please read all questions and statements in their entirety to help reduce mistakes. Please note a registration must be completed for each sport your child wishes to participate in. Sports will open for registration just prior to the season the sport is played. Please pay close attention to the Parent Newsletter for these dates. When searching for our school, please type MILLER as opposed to “Bob Miller.” EVERY athlete is required to get a NIAA physical completed each year. The physical is good for one calendar year (like a prescription) but must be uploaded to RMA/Aktivate each year. Miller Middle School does not have access to physicals submitted in the previous school year. Free/affordable physical options may be found here. EVERY athlete is also required to have an electronic records release completed each year. Have ready two current (within the last 30 days) proofs of address with the parent's name on the document. This can be a major utility bill (power, water, or gas), a driver's license, or a rental agreement/mortgage statement. Parents may also be asked to provide copies of transcripts from previous schools if they are registering at Miller for the first time. If applicable, parents will also be asked to provide documents including divorce decrees, custody agreements, and documents of abandonment for previous address. Students must have current health insurance to try out and/or participate in sports. Student health insurance options can be found here. There is a $15 registration fee for all RMA athletic packets. This fee can be paid on the RMA/Aktivate site with a credit card or in person at the school with cash, check, or credit card. All student-athletes must be cleared through RMA no later than the coaches’ established deadline before participating in any tryout. If you encounter any problems or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Miller Athletics Office at 702-799-2260, ext. 4005 or frielca1@nv.ccsd.net.

Joining the CCSD Alumni Association is free, and we will send only four email updates a year. Our goals are to:
- Track the impact of our CCSD Alumni, living and deceased, on the Southern Nevada community
- Help us co-design our vision to make CCSD a Destination District
- Amplify our vision through your personal network
- Highlight our student and school successes
- Lift up our students and programs when they need additional support by identifying resources
- Participate in incredible events and volunteer opportunities that benefit students
