Open House

Swifties kicked off the month of February by sharing their independent projects with the poise and the confidence of true experts. They presented through multiple pathways-- once via a recording on Flipgrid, once at the front of the classroom, and once in our in-school open house (photos shown below).

For those familiar with a traditional Swift Open House, our in-school version brought out the spirit of the past with WCS adults mingling throughout the classroom and everyone taking pride in their work. We look forward to the day that we can hold these Open Houses at night to have Swift families doing the mingling as well.

Tote Bags/Paper Bags Needed

We have one Swift Sustainability Action Project group working on making vacation bags for families that don't have as much food at home. We are in need of tote bags with handles and paper bags with handles so that we can easily distribute the food items to go home over break.

Intern Release Form

Our fabulous interns-- Mady Corkum, Gabbie LaDeau, and Mackenzie Kresge-- are sending home a packet of release forms this week. They need parent permission in order to upload student work and videos to their own teaching licensure portfolios. Please look for this packet of release forms and send it back our way with this week's Greensheets so they can carry on with their class work.

Thank you!

Frozen: A Retelling

Dear Students and Families,

We are calling all budding actors, singers, and dancers to audition for Williston Central School’s upcoming production, Frozen: A Retelling, performing Thursday, April 14. Between February and April break, cast members will work together to put on a creative, abridged version of Frozen Jr. In six short weeks, students will learn scenes, songs, and dances that tell the popular story. There will be opportunities for every experience level and interest--from soloist with lead acting roles, dance ensemble, choral ensemble, narrators, and behind-the-scenes crew. There is something for everyone!

Auditions will be Thursday and Friday, March 3 and 4, 3:00- 4:30.

Depending on what type of role your student is interested in, auditions will look a little different. You can find the most up-to-date information on our production and audition process at our (work in progress) Google site: https://tinyurl.com/wcsfrozen. You can also get in touch with the directors by emailing Carah and Kyla at cpiolihunt@cvsdvt.org.

Thank you!

SPARK Enrichment After School Session 4

We are excited to offer your child an opportunity to participate in Spark Enrichment, an after-school applied learning program for students in grades 5-8. Sessions will run for 5 weeks from 3:00 p.m - 4:30 p.m. with our 4th session starting March 3rd and ending March 31st. These small group classes will be facilitated by school faculty and staff. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that can be found on the link below.

Students and caregivers will receive an email (using the email given on the form) informing them of the assigned workshop on Monday or Tuesday of the week that workshops begin. In order to take full advantage of this learning opportunity, students will need to make a commitment to attend all five Thursdays. If your child decides to not take part in this session after having registered please contact Julie Rogers so that others may fill the spot. The after-school activity bus will provide transportation home for students in need of a ride home.

The dates of session 4 are: March 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31. When registering, students will be able to rank their choices for better placement! Students will be placed on a first come first serve basis. Registration form and a listing of workshop descriptions. Contact Julie Rogers (jrogers@cvsdvt.org or 802-871-6022) with any questions.

Antigen Tests for Post-Winter Break Testing

Rapid antigen test kits are being sent home in backpacks. These tests are a part of a voluntary testing program through the AOE and not required for students to attend school. If you choose to participate, the AOE recommends that you test your child on Saturday and Sunday (2/26 and 2/27) before returning to school after the February break.

Yearbook Deadline

There are only a couple more weeks to order a Williston Central yearbook. The yearbook includes all students at WCS. The deadline is February 25th. Click here to order.
