March Newsletter
Message From the Principal
March is here, and with it comes one of the longest stretches of uninterrupted learning in our school year - 6 full weeks of school without disruption. WHOO HOO! This is a powerful time for academic growth; consistent attendance and arriving on time are essential so students can fully soak up all the learning we have to offer.
Additionally this is a month for celebration! We want to thank all of our community partners, families and neighbors who voted for and passed our Bond and Levy! This collective achievement is monumental and will result in a positive impact on all of our students across the Everett school district. We are so grateful for your vote and belief in what we do for your students - Thank you!
EVENT ALERT! TIME TO HAVE SOME FUN!
Mark your calendars and join us for a night of fun, community, and Jaguar pride at the Everett Public Schools Foundation Big Give Showdown Event on March 31st at Henry M. Jackson High School! The festivities begin at 6:00 PM with food, games, booths, and raffles, all leading up to the exciting game show competition at 7:00 PM. Our very own Silver Firs Elementary team will be representing us in the showdown, and we would love to pack the house with cheering Jaguars!
This spirited, community-wide event brings students and staff together to compete for the Everett Cup while raising funds to support programs across the district through the Everett Public Schools Foundation. When our community shows up, incredible things happen for kids — and this is another opportunity to come together in support of our students. We hope you’ll attend, cheer loudly, and celebrate alongside us!
Support Our Team – We Need You!
We are currently seeking business sponsors and individual donations to help us reach our goal of $1,000 in sponsorships. Sponsorship amounts can be anything, and every contribution makes a meaningful impact. Sponsors will receive recognition including:
Logo on our school team t-shirts
Recognition on social media, the event program, website, and event screens
If you own a business, know someone who does, or simply want to make a personal donation, we invite you to consider sponsoring our team and standing proudly with Silver Firs. It’s more than a donation; it’s a powerful way to show students that their community believes in them.

March National Observances
March is filled with meaningful celebrations and learning opportunities for our students, including:
National Reading Month – March is a time dedicated to celebrating the joy, power, and importance of reading. Classrooms will be engaging in literacy activities designed to inspire a love of books, strengthen reading skills, and encourage students to explore new genres and authors. We invite families to join us in this month of celebration by setting aside extra time for reading at home and talking together about the stories your children are enjoying.
Women’s History Month – Recognizing and celebrating the countless contributions women have made throughout history and continue to make today. Students may learn about influential leaders, innovators, artists, scientists, and changemakers whose courage and determination have shaped our world. These lessons provide meaningful opportunities for discussion about perseverance, leadership, and making a positive impact in our communities.
St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) – Teachers may use this occasion to explore traditions, history, and geography connected to Ireland, helping students build cultural awareness and global understanding in age-appropriate ways… and of course building those leprechaun traps!
Teachers may incorporate these observances into classroom learning throughout the month!
PANORAMA STAKEHOLDER SURVEY IS COMING!
Please keep an eye on your email for the Panorama Family Stakeholder Survey coming out mid-March. This is an important survey you will receive electronically that asks for your feedback about our school’s climate, communication, and overall family experience, as your input helps guide our planning and improvement efforts. Thank you in advance for your participation!
Traffic & Safety Reminders
The safety of our students and families is our highest priority. Please help us keep everyone safe by:
Obeying all traffic laws in and around the school zone.
Driving slowly and remaining alert at all times.
Watching carefully for students and families walking to school and crossing the parking lot.
Being patient and courteous during arrival and dismissal times.
Your attention and cooperation make a tremendous difference in keeping our community safe.
Morning Drop-Off Reminder
There is no supervision outside until 9:00 AM. Please Do Not drop your student off on campus without an adult present until staff members arrive for their morning duties. Student safety depends on having proper supervision in place. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding with this matter.
Conferences Are Coming!
We are preparing for conferences on March 30th and 31st! Please be on the lookout for communication from your student’s teacher about conference sign ups in the coming weeks.
Our January Core Value Champion!
Each month, we have the joy of recognizing a student who exemplifies our district’s core values and represents the spirit of Silver Firs Elementary. Our students demonstrate these values in so many wonderful ways each and every day, and selecting one representative is never an easy task. For January, we are proud to celebrate Aradhya Vats from Mrs. Copeland’s class for embodying this month’s focus value of Passion. Congratulations, Aradhya, we are so proud of you!
