Construction Update
We are seeing progress, as the construction is starting to rise from foundation work. The wet summer put us behind a bit (about 6 weeks), but because this is a long project, there is time to get caught up. Next year at this time, we should be moving into the new administrative offices and classrooms in the front tower and into the new gym, locker rooms, classroom, wrestling room in the back addition.
Your Voice Matters: An Invitation to Help Shape our Secondary Schools
Mankato Area Public Schools is beginning an exciting and important project to redesign our secondary schools (grades 6-12). We want to ensure that our schools are not only meeting the needs of today's students but are also preparing them for a future we can only imagine.
This is a journey we cannot take without you. Your unique perspective as a parent, family member, caregiver, or community partner is essential to this process. You see public education and/or your child's educational journey from a different angle, and your insights are crucial to helping us understand our current strengths and identify opportunities for growth.
This survey is to gather your valuable input. This is your chance to share your thoughts on the secondary school experience, and how we can create a more effective and future-focused learning environment.
Please take a few moments to fill out the survey. Your thoughtful responses and responses will inform our work and help us build a secondary school system that truly serves our entire community. The survey window will be open Monday, September 15th to Monday, September 22nd at 4:00 pm and should take no more than ten minutes to complete
Thank you for your partnership and for helping us create the best possible future for our students.

Safety Drill Notice
At Mankato Area Public Schools, the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our highest priority. To ensure our preparedness for various emergency situations, we will be conducting safety drilsl known as "Lockdown" on September 23rd, October 29th, November 19th and January 28th..
Purpose of the Drill: “Lockdown” is designed to prepare students and staff for an exceedingly rare circumstance - when an intruder enters the school premises. During this drill, teachers will follow specific safety protocols, including locking classroom doors, turning off lights, moving individuals away from windows and doors, not opening doors, instructing students to remain quiet, and that students remain out of sight.
Opt-Out Option: Per Minnesota Statute 121A.038, parents have the option to opt their student(s) out of this required safety drill. If you choose to opt your student out, please notify the school office. You will be able to pick up your student(s) 30 minutes before the drill begins and return them 30 minutes after it is completed.
Special Considerations: If your student has experienced violence or trauma that participating in this drill might reactivate, we kindly request that you notify the school office. We are committed to providing the necessary support and accommodations to ensure the emotional well-being of our students.
Our Commitment to Safety: That these drills are conducted with the care and attention to safety. Our staff is well-trained to oversee the process, and our primary goal is to equip both students and staff with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergency situations.
We sincerely hope that we never have to put this training into practice, but preparedness is an essential aspect of ensuring the safety of our school community.
Contact Information: Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the lockdown or our school's safety procedures, please feel free to contact Andy Krause, assistant principal. We are here to address any inquiries you may have and to work together to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our students.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
