πŸ“£ Families! Here's What's Happening:

We have tipped off the 2025-2026 School Year!! We would like to welcome every member of the Eastwood Middle School family and wish you an awesome school year. Our teachers have been prepping, and we are ready to hit the ground running. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your student's teachers or the staff members in the office with any logistical questions as we start the year. There are new routines and patterns that go with each passing year of education. We want to help all students start the year "on the right foot" and lay the groundwork for their best year yet.

This is just some early information that we wanted to share to kick the year off. There will be a Monthly Newsletter; Notes from "The Nest" that will go out towards the end of each month.

Horizon Youth Theatre presents:

The Big Bad Musical Directed by Mikayla Trimpey

SUMMARY: A courtroom has never been more lively and fun than in The Big Bad Musical! This smart and wickedly funny musical is great for actors and audiences of any age. The jury β€” your audience β€” must decide the outcome of the biggest trial ever in the fairy-tale world! The notorious Big Bad Wolf is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by storybooks of quirky characters who want to get even: Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs, and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf. With Sydney Grimm as the commentator on live Court TV, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest β€” the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother β€” clash in a trial that will be remembered forever after. As our wronged fairy tale characters testify, the wolf seems deserving of all that’s coming. Yet, even though the infamous Evil Stepmother resents doing pro-bono work on such an obviously futile defense, Mr. Wolf makes a good case for himself. Was he born a criminal, or made one? This musical has it all β€” audience participation, minimal set and costume requirements, a good balance of stage time for each character, multiple endings to make every performance unique, and Bill Francoeur’s toe-tapping tunes!

AGES CALLED: Auditions are open to all kids ages 8 to 14 and will take place September 11 & 12 from 5:30-7:30 in the Star-Style Theater in the Woodland Mall, Bowling Green. (This used to be the movie theater but is now owned by Julie’s Dance Studio. She rents the space to HYT)

HOW TO AUDITION: Print out and complete the audition packet which can be found on the website horizonyouththeatre.org

Bring it to your audition. Packets will also be available at auditions for those without access to a printer. Auditioners will sign up for a 1-hour time slot on either of the audition dates (you only need to sign up for one day). Please dress comfortably. Auditions will consist of: - a dance cut prepared by our choreographer - 1-minute (or 16-32 bars) cut of a song of your choosing - cold reads which can be found in your audition packet

If you would like to audition for this show but cannot make either of the initial audition dates, please reach out to Mikayla Trimpey to arrange an alternate audition time or format. You can reach her at director@horizonyouththeatre.org

PERFORMANCES:

The Big Bad Musical will have a three-performance weekend, November 7th - 9th, 2025. All three performances and tech week (the week leading up to the performance) attendance are mandatory. The show and tech week will take place at Grand Rapids Town Hall in Grand Rapids, Ohio. Please reach out to Mikayla prior to auditions if you have questions or concerns about this schedule.
