MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL MILLER
What an exciting time to be a Bengal! As we wrap up our fall athletic seasons, I want to congratulate our football and volleyball teams on their incredible seasons! Our student-athletes have represented Salyards with tremendous determination, teamwork, and Bengal Pride, and we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments!
We have even more excitement ahead! On Wednesday, October 28th, at 5:00 PM, our 8B football team will compete for the championship at the Berry Center, while our 7B football team will compete for their championship at Pridgeon Stadium at the exact same time! We wish both teams the very best of luck and encourage our Bengal community to come out and support our student-athletes! Bengals Believe!!!
Finally, I want to remind our families that early voting is now underway in Harris County and continues through Friday, October 30th. This year's ballot includes two CFISD election measures: a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) and a bond referendum. Both measures have implications for our district and our campus. The graphic below provides information about proposed projects for Salyards Middle School as part of the bond referendum. I encourage our incredible Bengal community to participate in the election and take a few moments to review the information provided by CFISD about both measures so you can make informed decisions when voting. Thank you.

SCHOOL POLICIES TO BE AWARE OF
Clear Backpack Policy
CFISD requires all high school and middle school students to use clear backpacks. Students participating in an extracurricular activity are permitted to carry non-transparent bags to store items pertaining to their particular activity (i.e. band, athletics, etc.). Upon entry into the school, all extracurricular activity bags must be stored in lockers or designated areas. All bags are subject to search. Additionally, the maximum size for non-transparent bags that students in grades 6-12 are permitted to carry during the school day, such as lunch kits, pencil bags and purses, will be 6” x 9”.
Personal Device Policy
A new Texas law (House Bill 1481) requires school districts to prohibit student use of all personal communication devices during the school day. Therefore, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is updating its personal communication device policy. Click here to read more about CFISD's Personal Device Policy.
