Principal's Corner

Thursday’s Boosterthon Fun Run was an absolute blast! Students ran laps, did the conga around the track, swam their way through the course, and boogied to the music—all with huge smiles and great energy. By the end, we were tired but happy after such a fun-filled event! Thanks to the incredible support of our school community, we reached our fundraising goal of $25,000! These funds will go directly toward enrichment programs, field trips, and technology to benefit all students. A big thank you to everyone who contributed and cheered us on!

Nurse's Notes

Update Health Information: Please make sure to update any changes to your child’s health information, including allergies, medications, and emergency contact details. Thank you to all the parents who have already submitted their children’s physicals and immunization records! If you haven’t done so yet, please remember to submit them as soon as possible. Physicals are required for students in Kindergarten and Fourth Grade.

Health Screenings: Schools are required to conduct vision, hearing, and BMI screenings for certain grade levels. These screenings are designed to identify potential concerns that may affect your child’s learning and overall well-being. Screenings will begin at the end of the month (October). Parents/guardians who do not wish their child to participate in one or more of these screenings must send a written request (letter or email) to the school nurse.

Fall Health Reminders:

  • Wash hands often- helps prevent the spread of colds, flu, and other germs.

  • Cover coughs & sneezes- use a tissue or elbow, not your hands.

  • Stay home if sick- Children should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.

  • Get plenty of rest- 9-12 hours of sleep helps kids focus, learn, and stay healthy.

  • Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables- apples, squash, and carrots are nutritious fall favorites.

  • Stay hydrated- even in cooler weather, water is important throughout the day.

  • Dress in layers- temperatures change quickly in the fall, so layers keep kids comfortable.

When to Keep Your Child Home:

  • When your child has a communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis that has not been treated for at least 24 hours with antibiotic medication

  • When your child has had a fever of 100 degrees or greater within the past 24 hours without fever- reducing medication

  • When your child has been vomiting or has had diarrhea within the past 24 hours

Please contact the nurse with any questions.

Children ages 8 to 18 are spending nearly 50 hours (about 4 days) per week in front of screens, and parents are increasingly concerned that screen time is robbing them of real-world experiences. Video games are entertaining and technology has become a part of everyday life in and out of the classroom. When is it too much? Is an hour a day okay? Two? Join us for an honest look at how technology is impacting our children’s health, mood, and social development, and learn strategies to help children interact with technology in a balanced way.

Please visit our website: https://mpsdsepac.weebly.com/ for additional resources and information.

We look forward to seeing you.
