A Message from the SMS Admin Team
Hello and welcome back!
The 2025-26 school year is off to a wonderful start! It has been a joy to see students return to the building, reconnect with their friends and teachers, and get settled back into their classrooms. The excitement from the first few days has been energizing, and we are so glad to have everyone here. Added emphasis on Math improvements that align with the school district's updated strategic plan will occur this year, each week student's will learn and play a Math game that can also be played at home with minimal materials.
Over the next few days, students will continue to get to know their teachers and staff as they begin their Fine and Applied Arts classes. In the following weeks, students will take district assessments, known as FastBridge testing, in their ELA and Math classes. This testing helps us measure growth and identify areas where we can provide extra support. We encourage you to ensure your student is present for these important assessments to avoid make-up testing.
We are confident that with your support and partnership in making sure students attend school regularly, we will continue to see strong academic growth this year, especially in our reading scores. This past year, we made some significant strides in both attendance and reading, and we are committed to building on that success.
We look forward to an amazing school year ahead!

SETTING A DAILY ROUTINE:
With back to school in full swing, the health office notices trends rather quickly of students frequenting the health office. Questions we typically ask with every office encounter: “What did you eat this morning? What time did you go to bed? What time does your alarm go off to wake up for school? What time do you turn off your screen devices at home? Etc.” Studies have proven that regular daily routines help school-aged students that tend to be stuck in a funk of poor sleep habits, feeling stressed or anxious, fatigue, lack of exercise, and a poor diet. We encourage students AND parents to have discussions at home about developing a healthy routine that works for your home life in order to ensure students are off to a great start to the beginning of each week and each morning! This includes a consistent bedtime, wake up time, hygiene routine, daily activity, and healthy food choices. A healthy routine starts on Sunday nights :)

Announcing the 2025-26 8th Grade Leadership Team!
We are thrilled to announce the 8th Grade Leadership Team for the 2025-2026 school year! These exceptional students have successfully navigated a rigorous selection process, which included completing a detailed application, writing a thoughtful essay, gathering recommendation forms, and participating in an interview.
This team of outstanding individuals will serve as mentors and guides for our incoming 6th graders. They were instrumental in the 5th-to-6th grade spring transition and fall Open House, helping our newest students acclimate to Superior Middle School. Our leaders were right there with the 6th graders, helping them learn the ropes and feel at home today on the first day of Sixth Grade.
Throughout the year, the 8th Grade Leadership Team will continue to work closely with the 6th graders, spending Fridays during "Spartan Starts" on fun activities and enriching experiences. Beyond their work with the younger students, our leaders will also play a key role in organizing school spirit activities and participating in community events and service projects.
These students truly embody our core values of work, respect, and belonging. Please join us in congratulating the 2025-26 8th Grade Leadership Team! We are confident they will be shining models for our entire school community.
