Kia ora, Nameste, Talofa, Konnichiwa, Guten Tag, Gidday, Vannakkam, ni Hao, Kia orana, Hola, Salam, Sa wat deekha, Dia Dhuit, Goeie Dag, Bonjour, Καλημέρα, Mālō e lelei, Greetings everyone

I honestly cannot believe we are halfway through the term already! Time is absolutely flying by, and our classrooms are buzzing with energy, learning, and creativity. It is a credit to our wonderful ākonga and dedicated staff that the weeks are passing so quickly and productively.

Winter is on the Way

As you will have noticed in the mornings, the weather is definitely getting a lot colder. With the winter chill settling in, please ensure your children come to school with plenty of warm layers, a good jacket, and named school sweatshirts.

Fueling Healthy Bodies & Minds

As we head into the second half of the term and the winter bugs start doing the rounds, keeping our energy levels up is more important than ever. We’ve noticed a few tired faces by lunchtime, so we kindly ask that you keep packing those healthy, nutrient-rich snacks and plenty of water to help the kids stay focused and resilient against the seasonal chills.

Advance Notice: Annual Whole School Emergency Evacuation & Reunification Practice 2026

The Board has set the date for our Annual Whole School Evacuation Practice for Friday, 16th October 2026.

This is an important practice as we work through the considerations of notifying families and safely evacuating close to 250 students, just as we would need to do in a real civil defence emergency. We appreciate our families' patience and understanding with this, as we know it is an interruption to the working day and requires some forward planning.

As with every year, more information will come out closer to the time, but for now please:

  • Mark Friday, 16th October 2026 in your diary.

  • Check that your emergency contact records are up to date with the office if these have changed since last year.

2025 Annual Financial Statement Now Online

The 2025 Bellevue Audited Financial Report has now been published on the school website. This outlines the school's financial position as at the end of 2025. Please go to the Board page of our website to view these if you are interested.

Thank you all for your ongoing support, partnership, and smiles at the school gate each day. Wrap up warm this week!

Ngā mihi nui

Rachel

A child’s first device? Check Netsafe’s online safety advice.

When a child gets their first internet-enabled device, they have independent access to the internet. Check your child’s online safety skill level and help them level up with the First Phones interactive online safety course.

A collaboration between Netsafe and 2degrees, First Phones is designed for parents and children to complete together and upskill children with the knowledge they need to navigate the digital world safely with their first phones.

Need advice about safer internet use? Contact the Netsafe helpline for free confidential advice: 0508638723

Sports

Congratulations to all of those students who have taken part in both the Junior and Senior Cross Country events over the past few weeks. Your resilience shone through, and you all did Bellevue proud. A special congratulations to Isabel, who has qualified for the Senior Inter Zone Cross Country event!

Library

Our team of librarians are settling into their roles and rosters, and doing a great job.

In addition to this, they also have the option to work on Bronze, Silver and Gold Librarian awards.

A huge congratulations to the following librarians for completing their awards:-

Bronze - Liam, Anna, Ellery and Kaesha

Silver award - Mia

Enviro Group

This term has seen the reestablishment of our Enviro Group! We have over 30 enthusiastic senior students who come together every second Friday afternoon to look after and improve our environment.

Their first goal was to get outside and do some planting! Mitre 10 Crofton Downs generously supported us with plants, seeds, watering cans, gloves and tools, enabling students to plant a māra kai (vege garden) along with some plants to encourage bees and butterflies. We can’t wait to see how this goes!

Whānau are welcome to come along and join us on Fridays (even weeks) from 2 - 2.45. Contact jane@bellevue-newlands.school.nz if you would like to be involved.

Enrolment planning for 2026-2027

Do you have a child turning five soon or next year or know someone else who does? Parents of students who live within the home zone and intend to enrol their child at any time in 2026-2027 are asked to please notify the school as soon as possible to assist the school to plan appropriately. It helps us to know as early as possible how many students will be enrolling as a five-year-old. Interested families may collect an enrolment pack from the office or from our website.

Out of zone enrolment applications are now being accepted for the fourth enrolment period of 2026 (Saturday 26 September to Wednesday 16 December 2026). Up to five (5) places are likely to be available for out of zone students.

The deadline for out of zone enrolments is Friday 26 June 2026.

Please have a look at the school website for more details: https://www.bellevue-newlands.school.nz/school-enrolment.
