🐾📝 PSSA Testing ~ Spring 2026 📝🐾
Our Grade 3 and 4 students successfully completed the PSSA ELA assessments this past week, and we are incredibly proud of the effort they showed in demonstrating what they know! 📚❤️
We now look ahead to the PSSA Math assessments, which will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 28 and 29. We are confident our students will continue to put forth the same strong effort as they take on math this week.
Make-up assessments will occur throughout the remainder of the week as needed.
We are so proud of the hard work our students have put in and are confident they are ready to do their best. Families can support their child by ensuring a good night’s sleep, offering encouragement, and helping them approach each testing day with a positive mindset. 🌟
We know our students are well-prepared, and we look forward to seeing them shine and show all they have learned! ✨❤️🐾
🐾 SVES Title I Family Input Opportunity 🐾
Are you interested in helping shape the success of SVES? Would you like to learn more about the Title I process and how we use it to support our students?
We are beginning to form our 2026–2027 SVES Title I Planning Committee, and we would love to include parent voices in this important work.
At our recent Math & Literacy Family Night, we gathered valuable feedback from families. The results, highlighted below, will help guide our next steps as we build on both this feedback and the outcomes of our current 2025–2026 Title I plan.
If you are interested in being part of this process, please complete the 2026-27 Title I Committee Interest survey. We will reach out over the summer with more information about joining the committee.
Our first meeting will take place in August 2026.
Your voice matters, and we would love to have you join us! 🐾
🚌 Second Grade Field Trip Brings Local History to Life
This past week, our second graders had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Indian Culture, and it was a truly meaningful experience. There is something incredibly impactful about students learning about Lenni Lenape history right here in their own backyard. Making connections between their studies of westward expansion and the local history of the Lehigh Valley helps bring this learning to life and shows students that history didn’t just happen far away, it happened everywhere, including here.
The museum served as an outstanding resource, immersing students in Native American culture in a hands-on and engaging way. Students learned how the Lenape respected nature and thoughtfully used all parts of animals for food, clothing, tools, and even toys. They explored local artifacts and gained insight into daily life within the tribe.
Some students were especially interested in learning about Lenape games and housing, while others were fascinated by the cradleboards used to carry babies. The visit concluded with a storytelling experience, where students listened to a traditional legend about a bear, bringing history and culture to life in a memorable way.
🗣️ First Grade Speech & Language Screening
During the month of May, our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) will conduct a universal speech and language screening for all first grade students at Saucon Valley Elementary School. Each screening will be completed individually and will take approximately 10–15 minutes.
This screening provides valuable insight into your child’s overall communication development throughout the first grade year, as well as helping us better understand strengths and areas of need across the grade level.
If there are any concerns regarding your child’s performance, you will be notified in writing and provided with an opportunity to review the results, along with information about possible supports and interventions.
Please note that students who currently receive Speech and Language Support or who have recently been screened or evaluated will not participate in this screening.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to either of our Speech-Language Pathologists, Mrs. Johnston or Mrs. Sauerzopf.
SVES Fitness Fun Run
This year we have again planned our annual Fun Run to support our goal of “Encouraging Healthy Choices” for our school community. We hope our students recognize that engaging in physical activity is not only good for their bodies but also a good social choice. The students have been preparing all year during their physical education classes. They have practiced proper pacing and worked to improve their cardiovascular endurance while jogging during physical education class.
This year’s Fitness Fun Run is scheduled for May 14th and a rain date of May 15th. The run will challenge students to complete as many laps as possible around the bus loop during a 20 minute time frame. They will have access to their water bottle and may take breaks as needed. All students are encouraged to participate to the best of their ability. Our goal is to help students develop healthy habits and a lifelong interest in physical activity. Please help your child prepare for the event by ensuring that they are ready with sneakers, a water bottle and sunscreen. Parents and guardians are welcome to watch and encourage the students but must remain in the designated viewing area.
Dogs will not be allowed at the fun run unless they are a licensed service animal.
Here is the schedule for the run:
9:30-10:10 2nd grade
10:15-10:55 1st grade
11:10-11:50 4th grade
12:10-12:50 3rd grade
1:20-2:00 Kindergarten
Thank you for your support of this event. If you have any questions, please email Thad.Moyer@svpanthers.org or Sarah.Roncolato@svpanthers.org
See you on May 14th or 15th!!!
