Checking Out Students in the Rogers Front Office

Our front office is happy to assist parents in checking out students early when situations arise that require students to leave campus with a parent or guardian. Please note that unfortunately we are not able to pull students out of class to check them out until the parent is physically on campus and in the front office. We are unable to accommodate calls from parents or guardians driving to campus requesting that students be in the front office and "ready to go," as this creates minutes of lost learning. Thank you for understanding this district-wide procedure and we appreciate your patience. Please reach out to Principal Penny with any questions regarding this procedure.

Phone/Smart Watch Policy

As a reminder, our district has a policy for student cell phones and smart watches. While students may have these devices on campus, they must be turned off and put away in backpacks. Please take a moment to review the excerpts from the FISD Student Handbook.

Frisco ISD Student Handbook (excerpts from pages 53-54)

Electronic Devices and Technology Resources (All Grade Levels)

Possession and Use of Personal Telecommunications Devices, Including Cell Phones, and Other Electronic Devices (Apple Watches, Airpods, etc.)

The district permits students to possess personal cell phones for safety purposes; however, these devices must remain turned off during the instructional day.

If a student uses such a device, leaves the device turned on, or displays the device without authorization, it will result in confiscation of the device. The device will only be returned to a parent or guardian.

■ The first offense will result in the phone/watch/tablet being taken up and returned to the parent with a warning for the student/parent.

■ The second offense will result in a $15 fine being required before the phone/watch/tablet is returned to the parent.

■ The third offense will result in an additional $15 fine being required before the phone/watch/tablet is returned to the parent.

■ A fourth offense will result in the phone/watch/tablet being confiscated for the remainder of the school year and an additional $15 fee being required for the return.

Parents will be notified within two school days after the device has been confiscated and may set a time to pick up the device and pay the fine if applicable.

If the parent refuses to pick up the phone or pay the fine, the company whose name and address appear on the device will be notified if applicable.

Any disciplinary action will be in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. The district is not responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen telecommunications devices.

News From the Nurse

Flu and cold season are upon us and to add to it, Fall allergies look a lot like cold symptoms. It can be a challenge determining when your child is sick or when they are suffering from allergies. Allergies may come and go but can be easily treated with over-the-counter allergy medications, so your student is not suffering from continuous runny nose, sore throat, or disruptive clearing cough due to congestion in the throat while trying to learn. Please monitor your students at home for fever, multiple cold symptoms including uncontrolled cough and runny nose, and sore throats with swelling, redness and visible drainage. Please help us keep illness at bay by keeping your student at home if they are showing signs of illness.

Thank you and take care,

Nurse Wade

Be proactive when it comes to Lice!

Lice are pesky parasites and although these insects cannot jump or fly, they can be transmitted from one child to another via head-to-head contact, or the sharing of hats, combs, brushes, etc. We need your help to stop lice before it makes its way into the school. Please examine your child(ren) on a regular basis for itching, lice or nits. A child with active head lice most likely will also have eggs (called nits) attached to the hair shaft. They are teardrop in shape, grayish-white in color, and very small. They are glued to the hair and cannot be washed or brushed out like dandruff. The nits are usually seen behind the ears and the nape of the neck. Early detection and removal of head lice and their eggs (nits) is the best way to control head lice. If your child is found to have head lice, a treatment must be applied to the hair. Family members should also be checked for head lice & treated if lice are found. Please contact the school nurse as soon as you learn that your child has lice. The hair must be treated before returning to school, the nurse will check for active lice before returning to class, and the hair must be retreated in 7 days to ensure re-infestation has not occurred. Per policy a notification letter will be sent home to the classroom if one case of active lice is found in that class.
